Planet Scorcher Description
Planet Scorcher is a strategy game that combines the latest climate research with plausible scenarios giving you a chance to see if you can stop the global warming.
You are the leader of a global government with the power to decide on policies applicable to all regions of the world. Your goal is to reduce the average global temperature.
Quick gameplay gives you the chance to try and test different approaches. You decide on policies, research spending – and taxation. Every decision you make impacts your approval. Every policy decision impacts the climate – whether it is geoengineering, restrictions or investments.
Planet Scorcher is based on state-of-the-art data and research, including:
- Aggregated emission data covering 200 areas of economic activity for each of the 8 regions
- Major greenhouse gases aggregated to CO2-equivalents (including carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide)
- Long-term GDP, population and energy demand forecasts based on OECD, UN, World Bank and International Energy Agency data
- Dozens of simulation models covering everything from solar activity to energy consumption per person
- Feedback mechanisms with changes in emissions and other metrics interacting to simulate real-world trends
- Hundreds probable climate events from local shifts to global events
- Complex temperature forecasting engine feed with input based on thousands of data-points that you can influence!
