The history of Rádio Meridional merges with that of Sinop. The broadcaster, which today is a leader in the entire northern region of the state, was born in the early 1980s on the initiative of the federal government through President João Figueiredo, in response to the claim of the pioneer and colonizer Ênio Pipino. As a station belonging to the national communication system, Rádiobrás, as it was called before privatization, fulfilled the important role of informing and entertaining those who arrived here, bringing with them the hope of a better life.
