RTS FM Description
Radio Teemaneng Stereo is one of South Africa’s leading community radio stations currently ranked 23 according to the National Rams of October 2012, that serves all communities, regardless of race, religion, creed or color within the Kimberley/Frances Baard region.
The station was a pilot project of the Training Education Research and Resource Centre.
The idea was motivated at a Media Conference held in October 1993 whereby an application was lodged with the then, IBA now known as Icasa (Independent Communication Authority of South Africa).
In 1995 a one year license was granted and we went on air for the first time in 1995.
The objective of Radio Teemaneng Stereo is to reflect the diversity and views of listeners through its programs.
Radio Teemaneng has over the years complied with its license conditions through interaction between radio and community, by producing programs in all four languages namely Setswana, IsiXhosa, Afrikaans and English, which is relevant as the spoken languages in the Kimberley region and surrounding areas.
