SCLEAP Description
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Assistance Program (SCLEAP) was born out of the actual needs of state and local police officers serving in the field as well as non-sworn administrative staff members and their families. SCLEAP is a blend of traditional employee assistance program services, chaplaincy services and statewide law enforcement peer support. The staff and volunteers are available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, in order to serve the needs of all South Carolina law enforcement employees. Established in 1997, the SCLEAP is a unique partnership between SLED, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, South Carolina Department of Public Safety, the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole, and Pardon and the Office of the Adjutant General. It serves more than 17,000 state and local police officers, South Carolina National Guard employees as well as non-sworn employees and family members.
