Serial Terminal - RS232/485 Description
Send and receive text or hexadecimal data to a Serial Port.
App. can communicate with:
• Arduino (original and clones)
• ESP8266 boards
• ESP32 boards
• NodeMCU
• ESP32-CAM-MB
• STM32 Nucleo-64 (ST-LINK/V2-1)
• many 3D Printers
• many CNC machines
• etc.
The above boards and devices usually have a USB connector and a chip that makes the USB to Serial communication possible.
Connection:
Phone must have USB OTG function and be able to provide power to the connected USB device (most phones nowadays).
Use USB OTG adapter cable (test that the adapter works by connecting a computer mouse).
Use normal USB data cable to connect your embedded board or device to the OTG adapter.
Note: symmetrical USB C - USB C cable might not work. Use normal cable and OTG adapter.
Some older boards or devices might not have a USB port. Instead, they have RS-232 port, RS-485 port or just UART pins where you can solder a connector. In that case, you will need an external USB to Serial adapter. There are many such adapters that you can buy online and they all have some chip inside that performs the USB to Serial communication.
Our app is compatible with the following chips:
• FTDI
• PL2303
• CP210x
• CH34x
• others that implement standard CDC ACM
App Features:
• data format (text / hexadecimal data) can be configured separately for the terminal screen and for the command input.
• local echo (also see what you sent).
• Rx Tx counter
• adjustable baud rate
• adjustable Byte delay
• adjustable font size
• additional features available in our app "Serial Terminal Pro".
