Shishu Bharti School Description
In the mid- 20 th century, a young Inspiring industrialist, Sri Harihar Bayanwala, who was deeply engrossed in a number of different businesses decided to open a private school for the children of Forbesganj. He was a busy man, an active member of All Bihar Rice Mills Association, Jute Dealers Association and Secretary of Forbesganj College besides several other social activities. He was living his life to the fullest. He decided to change the face of education in and around Forbesganj, and a new era started. He believed in, “Be the changes you want to see in the world.” And today he is an excellent example of the above motto. This all started because of one small incident. One day while returning back home from work, he saw about 30 small children sitting on a shabby mat under a tree, and the teacher was punishing a student with a stick. This made him think, is this education the future of India deserves? He pondered over it a lot in the next few days, and decided to provide a decent education to the children. Many people have the means and resources to do something for society but very few actually do something. There was no private school in the town at that time, and the municipal school started from the fourth standard. Due to the poor condition of education in and around Forbesganj, many people, including him, sent their children to far off places for better education. After discussing with his colleagues and family members, on the 4th of September 1965 in his own office space, he started with 4 children with the aim of giving them a higher and better level of education. At that time, no one knew that this seed he was planting would grow in to a large, gigantic tree. As the word spread, the number of children also grew, and in the fourth year he had to shift this school in the nearby building due to the lack of space. His wife Lalita Devi, who is herself very well educated, decided to help her husband on this noble path and joined in the management of the school. Under their excellent supervision, more and more children started coming in. They engaged the very best teachers to keep up with the number of growing children. In 1988, the school had a total strength of 400 students, spread on a wide campus with numerous teachers. Till this time, the school was only up to the fourth standard. They were approved by the government in the same year to extend it up to eighth standard. Sections after sections were introduced, and in no time the total strength grew to almost 700 students. The era of private school had begun. Soon, many private schools opened one after another as parents also grew conscious of their children’s future. Today, there are more than 100 private schools in this small town, and this started because one man decided that it was time to change. Fighting against all odds, he and his wife have succeeded.
