Didn't get what all the hate is for, wasn't picking up any SJW vibes but maybe I'm out of touch. Thought it was a compelling story, and nice to have a tie in between the first and second game. Only gripe would be lack of tank companions and the amount of quest items. Definitely get the bag of holding when you can. A shame more of the unique class items don't transfer to bg2.

This is a great game and a decent port of it. It is quite qlitchy, especially during battle scenes. The screen starts jumping and shaking like a tv from the 70s (the kind where you'd have to prop the knob in a general direction with cardboard or something), and then once it straightens itself out and you can see again, characters are either dead or on their deathbed.

Worth playing through for some cool battles. The story itself is mediocre but passable. What's unforgivable is the dialogue in the closing sequence. It's very much at odds with the opening dialogue for Shadows of Amn (the direct sequel to this installment, which was published two decades ago). More time invested in the narrative choices of NPCs could have salvaged this game, but sadly it just feels jarring and clunky
