Sinaxar - Vietile Sfintilor Description
The Synaxar is a religious book that describes the lives of saints. The same name is given in the Orthodox Church to the calendar in which the names of the saints appear recorded according to the days of the year. The most popular synaxar is the Menologue of Emperor Basil II, dating from the 11th century.
Reading the life of the saint of the day and the Synaxar in general helps a lot, because it warms the soul and urges it to follow the saints. Then the man no longer takes into account all the trifles and goes forward with magnanimity. The lives of the saints help us to acquire the manhood of the soul.
Sinaxar is a daily audio column that briefly presents the lives of the saints of the day.

On June 20, 1992, the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church decided that "from now until the end of the ages, in the entire Romanian Orthodox Church, all the saints of the nation will be counted among the saints and honored according to the rule with a special service and akathist Romanian, known and unknown, for whose honor the "Sunday of the Romanian Saints" is established, which will be placed in the calendar of our Church, in every year, the second Sunday after the Descent of the Holy Spirit, thereby showing the work of the Holy Spirit in our Church throughout the ages".
It was then decided that, on this Sunday, they would be remembered and honored with reverence: the holy hierarchs, priests and ministering deacons of the Romanian Orthodox Church, who were martyred and confessed and sacrificially defended the Orthodox faith, our nation and our country ; the pious saints who lived fully the monastic life and who, through the example of their lives and through prayer, spiritually nourished all the faithful; the holy martyrs of any rank or social status and all those who through their passions and martyr blood received the crown of holiness; the Romanian saints killed by pagan armies or other oppressors throughout the ages, as well as those who fell in battle with them or in bitter captivity for the faith, the Church and the nation; the saints who committed themselves fighting with the weapon of the word for the defense of the faith, the Orthodox Church and its faithful sons and all the other Romanian Orthodox Christian saints of all times and everywhere, known and unknown, who grew in love for Christ, good deeds, prayer and Christian virtues, which God wrote in the Book of Life.
