Slide (Alpha) - Play Live Description
Welcome to the Slide (Alpha)! Download Slide, open your TV to a basketball game, and play! This game is meant to be enjoyed during games to create the best interactive viewing experience.
Slide is a real-time prediction game where you win points based on the multipliers you assign to different Stategories (grouping of different real-time game stats). Choose the team you want to play as, and pick the strategy you want to start off with (don’t worry, you can change this throughout the game).
Select a team
Choose which team you’d like to play for. Try to pick the team you know the most about, as you’ll be able to strategize better while playing if you know their strengths and weaknesses. If you don’t know much about either team, then just pick the one that you like more. This option is irreversible until the match is complete, so choose carefully!
Strategy Select
Choose the kind of coaching strategy you’d like to start out with. Try and pick the strategy that you think best fits your selected team’s play style. These preset options are only suggestions to help you start off the game, and you will be able to adjust them as much as you’d like once you begin playing. See below for a more detailed description of all 3 options:
All Out - Offensive (points scored + assists)
Big Man - Defensive (rebounds + blocks)
Sniper - Precision (field goal accuracy)
Gameplay
In order to play Slide, you need to spread out five points across three different Stategories-
What are Stategories?
Stategories are the fundamental component of Slide that allows you to score coach points and increase your overall score. Stategories are a combination of different game events that we have grouped into different categories. There are 3 different stategories we’ve included in the Alpha and you can find detailed information about them below:
All Out - Points Scored + Assists
Points scored: Any points scored by your team. Includes 2 pointers, 3 pointers, and free-throws
Assists: A crucial pass to another player that led to a scored point
Big Man - Rebounds + Blocks
Rebounds: When a shot bounces off the rim or backboard, and a player catches the ball and secures possession
Blocks: When a player on the defensive team successfully deflects a shot by the player on the offensive team
Sniper - Field Goal Accuracy
Field goal accuracy: Determined based on whether a player makes or misses one’s shot. If they successfully score a basket you gain points, and if they miss a shot you lose points
Every-time your team performs an action, you will receive a certain number of points if that action falls under a stategory that you have active. The total number of skill points you have assigned to each stategory will determine the corresponding number of coach points you receive
Example 1:
User has selected Dallas as their team.
Dallas scores a layup (worth 5 coach points)
User has 3 skill points active in the “All Out” stategory
User receives 5 points, multiplied by 3, for a total of 15 coach points
How To Add/Remove Stategories
Hold your finger on “Change” in order to activate changes
Slide your finger towards the Stategory you want to add points from, and release your finger once you’ve chosen
Click the sections to add multipliers for that Stategory and replace existing ones
Hold your finger on “Switch” to repeat the process for other Stategories, click the check mark to finish changing strategies, or click the rewind button to reset all points
Using Power Ups
Click the lightning bolt on the right side of your screen to access your power-ups, enabled by Dapper Labs’ NBA Top Shots Moments. Power ups allow you to give your team a boost and score bonus points for certain actions
For example, a “Dunk” power up will give you bonus points every-time your team scores a dunk while it is active.
Power ups have an effective time limit and a cooldown period before they can be used again.
