SmartTown® is a Community Wi-Fi solution managed by Calix that enables broadband service providers to extend Wi-Fi into and around the community. Built upon the Wi-Fi Alliance Passpoint® standard and secured with ProtectIQ® and ExperienceIQ®, SmartTown utilizes the latest network security and content filtering to provide a private, secure, and safe experience.
SmartTown for Education is a community within the SmartTown network to specifically support the needs of students and educators.
School IT administrators will provision SmartTown® for Education app via the Google Admin Console and provides the following capabilities:
• The ability to add/remove the app remotely with minimal end-user interaction
• The ability to add/remove the appropriate Passpoint profile specific to the user or user group
Other information
• User access policies and authentication are controlled in Calix Cloud.
• Students, educators, and faculty are a part of a SmartTown community.
• There is no specific SSID as all SmartTown connections utilize the same SmartTown SSID.
