Struve Experience Description
Through the Struve Experince application, you can get to know the story of the Struve chain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The application works on the Oravivuori nature trail, which is one of the measurement points of the Struve chain and a beautiful hiking destination in Jyväskylä's Korpilahti in Central Finland.
The Struve chain was built in the 19th century to measure the size and shape of the Earth, and it stretches from the Arctic Ocean to the Black Sea. The Struve Chain was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2005. There are six points of the Struve Chain that belong to the World Heritage List in Finland.
The story of the Struve chain on Oravivuori has been created by a group of four artists representing different fields of art:
Minja Revonkorpi (visual artist, graphic designer and art teacher): visual contents and animations of Struve Experince concepts
Laura Rukola (artist-art educator, dancer and environmental educator): Script and movement content
Olga Kolari (sound designer, musician and poet): Soundscape and poems
Arto Polus (animator, AV technician and media artist): Animations
There are seven points on the Oravivuori route, the contents of which open automatically. The contents can also be opened in the application itself.
Technical implementer of the application: Zaibatsu Interactive.
Struve Experience has been implemented in a project funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The partners of the project are Visit Jyväskylä Region, Land Survey Office and Digi & Game Center. The administrator of the project is Suomen Humanistine Ammattikorkeakoulu.
