Triceratops is a genus of herbivorous ceratopsid dinosaur that first appeared during the late Maastrichtian stage of the late Cretaceous period, about 68 million years ago in what is now North America.Individual Triceratops are estimated to have reached about 7.9 to 9.0 m in length, 2.9 to 3.0 m in height and 6.1–12.0 tonnes in weight.The most distinctive feature is their large skull, among the largest of all land animals.
