WANDERKULTUR Description
WanderKultur combines hiking in the Bavarian Forest with the knowledge of its inhabitants. With this navigation app, local history can be experienced and grasped in the field - and thus incredibly exciting.
The Bavarian Forest Association, steeped in tradition, wants to secure the knowledge of people about their homeland, carry it into the future in a modern way and thus make it available to the public free of charge. The project is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance and Homeland.
How does it work? Anyone can upload a contribution (text, image, audio, video) to www.wanderkultur.de. The points are then linked to hiking and cycling tours and published in the WanderKultur app. The routes can be downloaded as a package and are also available off-site with their content.
What is there to discover? From grandfather's story to geological features, from the history of the field cross around the corner to the background of glass production. WanderKultur thrives on the diversity of people and their wealth of knowledge and experience. The more participants, the more varied the tours become.
The articles are proofread by an editor before publication. Technically, WanderKultur is based on GUIBO.travel.
After the app was first published in May 2023, WanderKultur is to expand step by step across the entire Bavarian Forest. The 58 sections of the Bavarian Forest Association play a major role in this. This was founded in 1883 to "promote tourism" in the region by creating hiking trails and building shelters on the peaks of the Bavarian Forest. And the association is also committed to preserving the cultural heritage. The approximately 20,000 members are both hiking experts and connoisseurs of the regional peculiarities - and that also away from the tourist hotspots.
Anyone who travels with WanderKultur gets to know the Bavarian Forest in a whole new way: an exciting journey through history – for locals and tourists alike.
