UPDATE (3/22/24) The new Google Chat is AWESOME! Thanks for making the necessary changes Google! Original Review: It's so close but has one fatal flaw. It doesn't allow you to delete or edit entries like slack, Whatsapp, and Microsoft teams do. That's a major, major miss and prevents me from using this as my primary cross platform communication tool with friends and family. To make matters worse, I think it's a business decision because I understand the corporate version has this feature.
The messages and new updates are atrocious. I hate them. (NO offense to google chat designers) PLEASE change it back to the old messages layout. Or at least make a setting to switch from the old layout to the new one. This new layout is only somewhat suitable for phones. It is very inconvienent to keep looking left and right to read messages. It would be so much easier and better if i could just look in one place to get all the info i need. If I could set a 0 star review, I would.
It is necessary to add a link to the profile that the user could send to the interlocutor or publish on the net. It is important that this works both in the app and in the web version. It is also necessary to hide the user's phone number from those interlocutors who are not in his contact list. So that he can start a chat using the profile link and communicate without indicating his number. Thus, the circle of contacts will expand and will be able to include not only highly trusted persons.
