They are not lying when they say this app is powerful. The content provided by Lingq as well as other users is ample input to begin new language acquisition. It's helpful and motivating to track your known words and hours of listening. I just tried the import function today and it is insane. To be able to grab the music videos of my favorite Chinese songs, put them into Lingq, have an algorithm generate the lyrics, and sync them to the song is a phenomenal feature to boost my learning.
It's ok but has glitches. The concept of having to save a certain number of words to maintain your streak isn't such a great idea, imho. It's ok at first, but eventually you'll have days when you quickly mass-save page-fulls of words (cheat) just to get your streak when you don't have the time or energy to do it properly. They should make it *time-based* instead. Sometimes I just need to review! It's the streak nonsense that killed my interest in this app.
This app is extremely convenient for a lot of language learning and is the best immersion focused app you will find, but it isn't perfect. For Japanese you get a lot of incorrect word break downs, and oftentimes the furigana is wrong. I think the app is still great on account of how easy it makes finding new materials but seeing as I'm paying $100 a year I hope they fix the issues.
