Very handy. Breezed through customs and I didn't have to wait in long lines. The only issue I had initially was when scanning the passport info page. The app kept telling me to position the passport as shown in the diagram. I thought it wanted to scan the whole information page. It took me several tries until I figured out that it only wanted to scan the characters at the bottom of the page. Once scanned, I got a green check mark. The author should inform users that those characters should be aligned within the rectangular box in the app's scan area on the screen. Other than that, everything else was fine. The app is very easy to use.
While the app did get us through customs, I'm not sure it saved any time. The aren't directions in the app for what to do once you arrive in the airport, which really would have helped. Only certain lines were designed for Mobile Passport, but the app didn't say which, and there wasn't clear signage at the airport to let me know. I will give it a few more tries, but it still needs some fine tuning before it really shines.
Used this app at Newark for a family of 7. Concept is good, but the airport doesn't really support it and it doesn't scale well for 7 people. We weren't directed to the very specific passport line (the only one) where you can use the app. When we got there, it took extra long to scan everything. At the customs exit, same thing -- not really a special line and the scanning took longer than the paper form! Overall, the right concept, but it needs proper support from the authorities to work right.
