I do want to mention that my experience with this app is about 20 minutes but I am already blown away how dang good it is. I could not imagine an app to be similar or possibly even better than the Google photos app. I've had Google photos for about 6 years and I have loved it except for the new cost. I take a lot of photos. What I've been doing is manually backing up my photos to Synology for about a decade now. I've used Google photos to look at my photos. It seems like this app does everything
New phone has had amazing battery life. I just finished redoing my Synology NAS and connected this app to upload all the photos on my phone. Used the focus backup yesterday and it worked great. Today, In an hour, my battery has gone down 15% and the phone was physically warm to the touch. This has never happened before on this phone and a full charge has lasted me more than a day with my usage, normally only down to 40% at 9:00 p.m. connecting this app was the only change done 👎.
For my usage, this app does what I need it to do: backup my photos to my NAS and be able to view them on a timeline. However, it's impossible to shake the feeling that going with any other cloud-based solution, like Google Photos or Amazon, will provide you with a better experience. Synology should invest resources into redesigning this app, with a better timeline interface, proper backup rules, and more ways to manage shared folders.
