Waaayy too many notifications. I am a paid subscriber. The app experience is decent enough. But even if you turn off all notifications from the app settings, the breaking news notifications remain at "default" which hits you with more notifications than hail in a hailstorm. Over a 100 in a day. Easy! Only option left. Turn off all notifications from the OS. Which is disappointing. Please fix.
After years of using this news app, I uninstalled it after being frustrated with it. Reason? Irrelevant ads, and ad based articles showing up between news. Most of the ads are inappropriate too, and has no relation to my browsing history. Even marking the ad as irrelevant in AdChoices does not make it go away. TOI articles showing in app are also more movie/entertainment based than news. Have now discovered a better way to get TOI news. Just hit the TOI website the traditional way, not the app!
Edit : The issue has been fixed now ! Its good when developer actively work and fix the bug based on review. bumped up the rating ! Through mobile app, comment section cannot be opened in any article. It says "Sorry we are unable to process your request right now". I am using pixel 3xl running on Android 10. This has been an issue from over few months now. Please fix it and I will update the rating. Edit: Thanks for reply. I have emailed with the screen shot of error message. Hope that helps.
