It's so close to good. It does its job perfectly well, but the ads are atrocious. Every time I open it there's a fullscreen ad, I have to wait for it to load, search for the X, then wait for it to load again, and finally have access to the remote. Barely usable. I reached out asking if there was a way I could pay to remove the ads and got no response. I genuinely would pay, but there is no option to. It's very frustrating because this app is the only one I found that works for my TV.
Thank you -- this is a terrific remote control. Worked perfectly on a 10 or 15 year old Sony Bravia when I misplaced the remote. I haven't seen any ads at all. The app doesn't claim to be ad-free (the dev says there won't be more than one or two per hour) but even that rate of advertising is much fewer than most remote control apps. The GUI is simple and intuitive -- a ringer for the missing remote. It doesn't appear to run in the background or consume any resources. Superb.
Works on Sony Bravia TV just as advertised. Looks just like the real remote (except you have to scroll to see the part that would be longer than your phone). It has trouble finding TV if it is on the ethernet leg of LAN, but when you add TV by IP, works like a charm; that varies from router to router: on Netgear, Linksys, and Cisco powered nets it finds the TV on the Ethernet leg; not on several other brands I tried (i.e. nodiscovery probably is an issue of the router, AP or extender.)
