The Activity Helpers recently added to OSRS Mobile makes things a whole lot easier.
Old School RuneScape has received a new mobile client that makes your mobile time even more accessible, with activity helpers that make playing without a keyboard easier. The new mobile client represents a massive quality of life improvement for players. If you want to make some OSRS GP or simply skill up, but you do not have access to a PC, you'll now have a much easier time doing it. No more XP or OSRS Gold waste either; you can now do most stuff as quickly as on a PC.
The best part? The good news just keeps on coming. This is because Jagex has plans to add even more features as part of the mobile set of Activity Helpers. Do you want to farm for the Rangers Boots worth around 30 mil OSRS GP by doing medium clue scrolls? You'll be able to do that on mobile efficiently. Or maybe you want to smartly invest your OSRS gold in training your Smithing skill at the blast furnace. You can do that right now on mobile with the Activity Helpers!
Requirements and QoL Improvements
For quite a long time, the mobile players have been ignored by Jagex, but now the mobile version is finally receiving a series of updates that have been worth all the waiting. The new mobile app has already been launched and has higher requirements than the previous one. The minimum requirements to install and use the new OSRS mobile app are:
・Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later, and at least 2GB RAM (for Android phones and tablets)
・iOS Version 13.0 or later (for Apple products)
The late July 2022 steam update has the clue scroll helper as its centerpiece; that's a huge one for mobile players because Jagex is bringing all the changes from Steam to the mobile client, so you can expect them to hit the mobile world of Gielinor soon. Right now, the mobile quality of life is just so much better. You will no longer need to open your skill tab to see how many of the buffs you have left. You'll now have a buff bar displaying the boosted skills conveniently. This will help if you use another great feature: the upcoming Chambers of Xeric helper. It will also help you in pretty much any combat situation. There are only a few activity helpers, but they make a difference in mobile gameplay.
Getting to Know the Activity Helpers
1. The Cannon HUD
If you are a big fan of one of the slowest but most rewarding skills in the game, Slayer, you'll love being able to see how many cannonballs are left in your cannon. You will also be able to enable notifications for when you are running low so you can AFK in peace. But that's not all! You'll know how many minutes there are till your cannon breaks and you need to repair it for long tasks. You’ll have notifications for when it happens just for extra peace of mind.
2. Heriboar Helper
For the Hunter skill, you will now be able to use the Herbiboar Helper. This unique activity used to be pretty unfavorable for mobile players because they play on smaller screens, where details such as tracks are harder to notice. It could become a rather unpleasant activity with no plugins to aid their search.
Thanks to the Herbibour Helper, the balance has been restored, and you'll find it similarly easy as on PC to hunt down this mysterious creature. The Herbiboar helper will also highlight the footprints and the stuff you need to check to find more tracks. Herbi is especially useful for Ironman accounts because of the herbs it gives you, but a great way to train Hunter on any account.
3. Blast Furnace Helper
The Blast Furnace is a fun minigame and the go-to for most people wanting to train their Smithing skill. Even though the newest Smithing activity currently rivals it, the Giants’ Forge, the Blast Furnace remains one of the most intense ways to obtain the highest Smithing XP per hour.
It is also a great way to save on the coal used when Smithing metal bars, making it a fantastic money-making option. Because the Blast Furnace is so relevant in OSRS, it is one of the first pieces of content to receive a mobile helper. The helper makes the Blast Furnace visually easier, and it’ll be less trouble for you to see the objects you need to interact with. This is achieved with highlights and new text indicators.
While the highlights are nice but not necessarily needed, a good QoL improvement that the Blast Furnace helper brings is that you'll know how many bars you need to collect and how much OSRS GP you still have in the coffer. This is especially great if you use the Blast Furnace to earn OSRS gold by smelting high-level metal bars.
