Driftopia is a game that has been developed by Lungfish Game Studio and is currently in the closed beta testing phase. It allows you to assume the role of one of the explorers who experience a crash landing on the moon Europa. Surviving on this planet, however, is not an easy task. In this challenging adventure, you will encounter a multitude of dangers and difficulties, including severe weather conditions, hostile creatures, and the presence of other players.

You will also have to interact with the environment and the local lifeforms, as well as craft, build, and upgrade your equipment and base. In this guide, we will show you all there is to know about Driftopia and provide some tips and strategies to help you play the game better. One of the most enjoyable experiences can be found by playing Driftopia on PC using LDPlayer.  Let's start.

Build the Basics First

After creating your character, you will begin the game on a raft. The raft serves as your main base of operations in Driftopia. You have the ability to add, remove, and remodel various parts of the raft. However, it's important to understand certain priorities if you want to prolong your gameplay experience.

Once you begin playing the game, there are a few essential items and structures that you must create. The pickaxe, shovel, and ax are essential tools that you must create initially. The rudder and anchor are necessary structures that enable you to move freely and gather the materials required for constructing items on the ship.

Build the Basics First

To begin the process, locate the engine, which is the large cylinder positioned in the middle of the raft. Proceed by dumping all the oils you have to it and level it up to level tow and level it up to level tow. Engines play a crucial role in determining the scope of what you are able to build. Upgrading to level two will unlock the essential structures necessary for further advancement in the game.

Once you have finished your task, start gathering the metal waste, leaves, wood, crates, and barrels that are floating near your raft.  To collect items, you have two options: you can either stay on the edge of the raft and collect them, or you can throw your hook and reel it in by long-pressing the throwing button. However, it's important to note that you should not jump overboard to collect items unless you have already made an anchor. If you do so without an anchor, the raft will drift away and become stuck on an island, requiring you to reset the game in order to fix it.

To begin, gather approximately 20 units of each of the basic materials. Then, click on the "build" option and navigate to the left side of the screen. From there, select the sailing section and proceed to construct an anchor. You can use the view controls to suggest the desired placement of the item, but there are no specific rules dictating where it can be placed. Be imaginative and position it wherever you desire.

Creating Basic Tools in Driftopia

After creating it, you should focus on developing the necessary tools. Now, it will be much easier for you to put the anchor down and swim towards the floating materials. To create the ax, shovel, and pickaxe, navigate to the handcraft section and click on the three small icons located at the bottom. Here, you will find the option to create ropes. To create each tool, you will need 4 ropes. Therefore, please prepare a total of 12 ropes.

Creating Basic Tools in Driftopia

Once you have the ropes ready, proceed to the tools section and use them to create all three tools. After creating the items, navigate to your bag, which is located at the bottom section of your screen. Drag and drop the items onto the tools placeholder to begin using them.

In Driftopia, to mine with them, navigate to a node and observe it. Upon doing so, a new option will become visible next to your right side action bar. To begin mining and obtain sand and stones, simply click on it once. Look for sand piles that are glowing, as these are the ones you can mine. Additionally, you can gather leaves, berries, and wood by cutting down trees. Finding sand and stones can be quite challenging. You can explore the underwater areas surrounding the island where you first encounter them. It is important to remember to look for sand nodes when exploring most islands.

Keep an Eye on the Hunger Level

To survive in Driftopia, it is crucial to prioritize avoiding starvation while engaging in all the activities mentioned above. Once you have located the stones and constructed the rudder and anchor. The next step you should take is to assemble the grill. In the first half of the game, your objective is to survive by consuming the mushrooms found on floating creatures. The mushrooms are poisonous when eaten raw, but they become edible when grilled.

However, there is one thing that you should refrain from consuming, and that is white berries. In Driftopia, plant essences can be extracted from them, and these essences are necessary for numerous other beneficial recipes. To cook items on the grill, simply drag and drop the desired item into the top slot.

Keep an Eye on the Hunger Level

If you have wood in your bag, it will automatically be added to the grill. Once you press the button at the bottom, the cooking process will begin. Next, proceed to drag and drop the cooked item into your bag. Additionally, remember to remove the wood from the stove. On the other hand, if you are wanting to reduce the amount of room that wood takes up on your storage boxes, you have the option of leaving them inside the cooker.

Make Storage Boxes

Just like every game, in Driftopia, your bag has a limited number of storage slots. To collect more materials from the water and islands you visit, you need to have a place to store them. This is why you need storage boxes. If you have a level two engine, you can build approximately six of them.

Since you are just starting out, it would be advisable to make all of them instead of attempting to upgrade them using precious oil. Once the storage units are full, it is recommended to consider upgrading them. However, it would be wise to prioritize setting up the research table and foundry before reaching the storage limit.

One effective way to save space is by avoiding the storage of items in their raw material form. For instance, if you possess ores, it is advisable to use a smelter to convert them into bars through the process of smelting. Typically, the production of a single bar of metal requires a minimum of two ores. Smelting the items will help save bag space and yield more valuable items. The process of smelling is similar to grilling. Just remember to remove the items once they are done.

Islands

Islands

As you embark on your drifting adventures in Driftopia, you will come across a diverse array of islands. Your ship will be unharmed if it runs into an island since it will simply bounce off. In order to navigate, you will require a ship's rudder to effectively control the direction. Valuable resources can be found in the underwater areas surrounding islands, and you can collect them by using the appropriate tools.

How to Drive with the Ruder

The rudder is an essential part of your ship raft in Driftopia. It grants you the ability to alter the course of your raft as well as its speed. But getting the hang of manipulating the rudder can be challenging at first. The following are some pointers and instructions that can assist you in becoming an expert rudder driver in Driftopia:

How to Drive with the Ruder

  • Before building the rudder, find the direction your ship raft is going and place it facing that direction. If you place it backward, the control will become reversed and confusing.

  • When you take control of the rudder, you will see a wheel with a lot of numbers on it. These numbers represent the angle of the rudder in degrees. The rudder will turn a greater amount as the number increases.

  • To make the raft go straight, set the angle to zero. To turn left, set the angle to 90 degrees. To go backward, set the angle to 180 degrees. To turn right, set the angle to 240 degrees.

  • You can adjust the angle by tapping on the wheel or dragging it with your finger. You can also use the buttons on the sides of the wheel to increase or decrease the angle by 10 degrees at a time.

  • Always park the raft away from the island, so you can quickly start moving once you collect everything.

PVP Mode

For a more challenging experience in Driftopia, consider delving into PVP mode. You'll gain access to this mode once you obtain your first gun, typically the Defaced M33. PVP maps are teeming with monsters and other players, and combat between players is allowed. Be advised, though, that if you die while playing in the PVP mode, any items you were carrying will be lost and other players will be able to plunder your inventory.

Rewards in PVP

In Driftopia PVP mode, players can engage in various actions that have the potential to yield valuable materials. Among these activities are the elimination of other players, the vanquishing of monsters, the opening of chests, and the collection of resources. After three minutes of gameplay in the PVP mode, an evacuation spot will become available to players. Because of this, you will be able to safely return to the place of your spawn in order to evacuate.

Evacuating successfully grants you access to all the items you have collected within the map. In PVP mode, crude oil production plays a unique role as it is essential for both device upgrades and researching recipes. Please remember that in PVP mode, your backpack will be cleared either upon death or if you choose to exit the mode voluntarily.

Crafting Versatility

In the Foundry, you have the ability to create a wide variety of objects, such as weapons, armour, resources, healthcare equipment, and semi-finished products, among other things. hitting the plus or minus buttons that are located to the right of the crafting quantity will allow you to alter it, and hitting the start button will begin the crafting process. Clicking on an item in the Foundry will display the required materials for crafting.

The "Research Table" holds the key to unlocking new crafting recipes. By using petroleum at the research table, you can unlock valuable recipes that will then become visible in the crafting machine. Researching opens up a world of crafting possibilities, expanding your arsenal of tools and resources.

Nurture Your Companions

Upgrade the animal pen to accommodate more pets and use materials to hatch them. Defeat monsters and conduct research to obtain the necessary materials. To create a pet, you will first need to select the components by clicking on the circular slot. Upgrading the device further increases the number of pets you can hatch simultaneously.
