Let’s play Genshin Impact on PC and find out together.
The Pyro element is one of the game’s 7 major elements and one of the initial 6 elements that was introduced in the first launch of the game. Since its initial release, Pyro has consistently been one of the best elements in the game for damage potential and elemental reactions power.
The Pyro Element specializes in dealing damage and taking advantage of elemental marks enabled by other elements like Hydro, Anemo or Dendro to enhance their damage output to help deal with troublesome enemies and killing bosses in the fastest way possible.
Pyro primarily provides the team with Attack based stat boosts that enhances their own damage output and the entire team’s damage output.
Funnily enough, despite being a non-flexible element that mainly relies on itself to deal damage, Pyro is Genshin Impact’s most reactive element with the ability to react to all 6 other elements in the game. However, we will only go through 2 of Pyro’s most powerful and major reactions with Cyro and Hydro as those 2 reactions are the ones that are used the most in Pyro teams. These reactions are Vaporize and Melt.
- Vaporize ( Hydro + Pyro): Vaporize triggers when Pyro comes into contact with Hydro marked enemies or enemies inflicted with the Wet status. When Vaporize is triggered, the Pyro damage inflicted onto the enemy is increased by 2 times the original damage.
- Melt (Cryo + Pyro): Melt triggers the same way as Vaporize is - when Pyro comes into contact with the Cryo element or enemies inflicted with the freeze mark or the Frozen status. When Melt is triggered, the Pyro damage dealt will be increased by a whopping 2.5 times, massively enhancing the damage dealt.
Pyro is one of the most powerful elements in terms of damage output in the game and is mostly used as the main DPS character in most teams and is often used in teams that utilize the 2 elemental reactions - Vaporize and Melt - to deal massive damage to enemies or bosses. In addition, running 2 Pyro characters in a team will trigger the Elemental Resonance, granting the entire team a massive attack buff and help enhance the team’s damage output.
- National team: 1 Anemo (Kazuha/Venti) + Xiangling + Bennett + Xingqiu
One of the most famous teams in Genshin Impact history, the national team allows players to deal massive damage to enemies using the Pyro element and the Vaporize reaction triggered by the 2 Pyro characters and supplied by Xingqiu. Bringing along an Anemo character that specializes in crowd control like Venti or Kazuha ensures that this team would be able to deal damage to all enemies at the same time in addition to dealing more damage thanks to the elemental resistance reduction. In addition, the extra damage from Swirl reaction and Infuse skills will help with keeping the damage uptime consistent and easy to use.
- Vaporize team: 3 Pyro (1 main DPS + Bennett) + 1 Hydro or 2 Pyro + 2 Hydro.
This team comp has been covered in the Hydro article of this guide series, for a better look at how this comp works, players can check the article out for more information.
- Melt team: 2 Pyro (1 Main DPS + Bennett) + 2 Cryo
This team focuses primarily on the damage output capable of being dealt by triggering the Melt reaction and taking advantage of both Elemental Resonance from Pyro and Cryo, enhancing the team’s critical stats and attack stats. In this team, players should pay attention to applying the Cryo element first before using the Pyro skill to trigger the Melt reaction.
In terms of Artifacts, Pyro characters’ most powerful set of artifacts is the Witch of the Flames set which enhances Pyro elements further and helps increase the damage dealt by Pyro-centric Elemental reactions. Other sets of artifacts Pyro characters can use are the Emblem of Severed Fate Set or Noblesse Oblige.
Top Pyro Characters to Use/Pull For
Thoma is a 4* Pyro Polearm user that specializes in supporting the team with a constantly regenerating shield that absorbs damage and releases constant Pyro waves of damage in return when the active character attacks using their normal attacks.
Thoma is an extremely versatile character to use as he not only helps negate the damage the team takes and helps enhance the active characters normal attacks and increase their damage output with his Pyro waves.
Yoimiya is a 5* Bow user of the Pyro element that specializes in dealing massive amounts of Single Target damage using her normal attacks, inflicting massive amounts of damage and is one of the game’s most powerful Boss killers.
Yoimiya shines best when paired with Yelan or Xingqiu which allows her to utilize the Vaporize elemental reaction to enhance her damage even further.
Hu Tao is a 5* Pyro Polearm user that specializes in dealing massive amounts of Pyro damage using her Charge attacks, dealing massive amounts of Single Target and Area of Effect to all enemies and to bosses.
Hu Tao is infamous for being the game’s most powerful main DPS and is capable of dealing massive amounts of damage in a short amount of time in exchange for her HP. Hu Tao’s most skills require players to be comfortable with keeping her HP low, however, so players might find it hard to use Hu Tao to her best ability.
Often dubbed the Polearm Archon by the community, Xiangling is an extremely powerful 4* Pyro Polearm user that is freely available for all players since the start of the game. Her kit allows players to not only deal massive amounts of Pyro damage but also enhances the entire team’s damage output and helps enable different teams making her an extremely valuable asset for players to build up.
The hailed Pyro “archon” himself, the eccentric Bennett is the game’s most powerful Pyro character by all accounts as he is the game’s undisputed best supporting character ever.
A 4* Pyro Sword user, Bennett’s kit revolves around buffing and healing the entire team’s proportional to his own attack stat, allowing the team to not only deal more powerful blows to the enemies but also sustaining and helping the team survive longer.
Bennett’s true power, however, comes when players know how to stack his buff with other damage increasing buffs in the game, allowing characters to have their damage enhanced ten folds. Players should at least have a C1 Bennett as once he reaches that point, he will become godly in supporting the team.
