SAMURAI SHODOWN is not a newly developed or published game; it has been around since 1993. A lot of players are calling it the “Return of the Tense and Exhilarating Battles.”
Since its return, Samurai Shodown has gained a lot of success as a blade-wielding fighting game. Samurai Shodown features high-end visuals and gameplay with a lot of different characters.
The game is developed by SNK and its widely available on Android and iOS platforms.
The point of the game is a throwback to kind of how things used to be in fighting games. So, this is a much slower, more measured paced game. The game might be slow-paced but not in a bad way.
You can also do basic attacks, combos, and special moves. Combos are good but not that good. In this article, you will find a complete guide to become a pro player faster.
You might not know this, but a lot of moves in this game can be canceled into special moves.
It means you input the special move right as the normal move connects, and you can "special cancel" it.
Not every move that your character has is going to be "special canceled," but a decent amount of the moves will "special canceled." The following are two types of canceling you can use to defeat the best players and become the best player:
⦁ Recoil Cancelling
⦁ Whiff Cancelling
It happens when you hit the opponent with a sword attack, and the opponent blocks it.
At that moment, your character will slightly reel back because of recoil, and you are punishable when this happens.
Now the best player won't let your mistake slide and hit you back. You will take some damage while reeling back.
Now the reason why I mentioned this is that a pro player also knows how to cancel the recoil, so your opponent doesn't get a chance to hit back.
What a good player does is turn this disadvantage into a special move. So, what you need to do is put a slight pause on your special move input.
Now, wait until your character starts reeling back and input a special move, and you will be able to cancel the recovery. That way, you will also be able to punish the opponent for trying to take their turn.
Because almost every player tries to take back charge after blocking its opponent move, if you do the above-given trick, you will be able to come out on top.
In most of the fighting games, it's not possible to Whiff cancel, but in Samurai Shodown, it's possible.
Remember this any move can be canceled into a special move on hit. Let's say you are using your crouching medium slash; you can cancel it anytime into a special move on hit.
You can also cancel it into a special move if the move whiffs, which is very powerful.
So you can use this when you are trying to throw a move out, but you are scared that the opponent will counter poke you. What you will do at that moment is buffer in a special move to punish your opponent for trying to sneak a poke in.
This method is pretty strong, and once you get the hang of it, you will be one step closer to become the best player.
Almost every Samurai Shodown player knows that your opponent can disarm your character if you hit by weapon flipping super or a few other different ways. But only the best players know how to disarm their character by themselves and use it to their advantage.
First up is how to disarm your character by yourself. So, you will have to press DOWN+KICK Medium Slash and Heavy Slash at the same time to drop our weapon.
If you already know this, then you will know that most players use it as a taunt because a lot of characters are not that strong, and without weapons, they can't do special and combos.
But what you don't know is that you can use it to divert your opponent's attention and pushing them to make a move, which you can cancel by picking up the weapon again and blocking their attack.
All of this will be so fast that your opponent won't even see it coming. This move is right from the Best players' book. Anyone can use it, but only the best players can master this move with the right timing.
This move is better suited if you are playing with Ninja character and Darley Dagger because they can deal massive damage to the opponent, combos, and special attacks without a weapon.
Darley Dagger even got a special move, which she can only do when she is weaponless.
The reason to do that is to show your opponent that you don't need a weapon to defeat them. You also lower the confidence of your opponent after making a successful attack without weapons.
Every fighting game has equal characters for every player. But some players find a way to break the limit of their heroes to deal massive damage to their opponent and become the best.
Rage Explosion is one of the moves/features which you can use to interrupt your opponent while your opponent is attacking you.
For example, let's say your opponent is trying to do a throw combo on you and then attack with other moves to deal more damage. Now what you can do is burst out of your opponent throw combo, and in some situations, you can make a counter-attack to punish your opponent.
Rage Explosion, aka Burst technique, might seem easy but suing it and mastering its perfect timing is what makes this technique so overpowered if you want to become the best master this technique as soon as possible.
All of the above-given guides are right from the best player's book. If you follow these, you will not only be able to stop or dodge your opponent; you will also be able to deal massive damage in return to your opponent.
All these counter-attack techniques can help you become one of the best players, but if you want to become the best player, you will have to do a lot of practice and perfect your attack, dodge, and counter-attack timing.
