If you thought the "Tales of" series marked its end with its 25th-anniversary celebration, you couldn't be more wrong. "Tales of Luminaria," the next installment, has already been announced at Gamescom 2021 in August, and there is already lots of information available for fans to keep them engaged.
"Tales of" games blend fantasy, combat, and loveable characters into an impactful experience described by Bandai as "undoubtedly one of the most iconic series in the history of Japanese RPGs." "Tales of Arise," the latest installment in the series, came out on September 9, 2021. Despite the mostly positive reviews, many critics found the plot disjointed and poorly paced, while others loved the characters. Even though the shaky, mixed reviews, the games have a solid reputation, considering the 25 million units sold total.
Noting the success of the previous titles, there are a lot of expectations for "Tales of Luminaria." And from the revealed information, the title seems quite up for it. The game will feature 21 protagonists in an exclusive mobile release. Here's a look at what we know so far about what could be one of the most refined mobile games of all time.
Tales of Luminaria is scheduled to release on November 4, 2021 (PDT). The game was announced at Gamescom 2021 in August and was shown as an "underway project" that is "coming soon" from the first official trailer shown at the event.
The game is developed by Colopl, a Japanese company, as shown in the second "Tales of Luminaria" trailer. Their team is well-known for its success in mobile gaming, both in Japan and abroad. They create a wide range of games without restricting themselves to one genre. The publisher of Tales from long-time is BANDAI NAMCO, just like in previous Tales of titles.
Pre-registrations for "Tales of Luminaria" are open, so if you can't wait, go for it. You can even play the Tales of Luminaria on your PC using LDPlayer.
The first official trailer for "Tales of Luminaria" from Gamescom 2021 gave the fans more hype. Many new developments have occurred in the days since, including the "Answer" trailer, which introduces all of the characters and an animated feature within the game. Also, a new YouTube playlist has been made, containing the daily-released character introduction videos. Once you've watched all of them, you'll be stuck in your head with Frederic x Keina Suda's featured song, "ANSWER." There's a 50-minute show on the game, but until you get the gist of it, do the basics.
With a chiming clock sound accompanying the various "Tales of" shots, the trailer gave us a glimpse of the previous "Tales of" titles. Next came an on-screen message: "Throughout the decades, there have been countless Tales. And now, in a new world..." A rich green landscape emerged as the message ended, then a blazing red city. The following on-screen message said, "A revolutionary new Tale is about to be told!"
The video ended with a cell phone showing some of the many characters of "Tales of Luminaria" in action, followed by some images and gameplay videos. After revealing the title and announcing iOS and Android availability, the trailer concluded with the BANDAI NAMCO logo.
With the exclusive mobile release, "Tales of Luminaria" gameplay is different from the previous titles in the series. Based on the announcement trailer, you can expect combat, cutscenes, and the chance to explore what seems to be a wonderful world. There haven't been many details released regarding what mobile mechanisms would be included in the game, but there are plenty of details about the storyline.
Experience "Tales of Luminaria" through the eyes of 21 protagonists. An ambitious adventure into a war-torn world, this title aims to deliver a "deep, layered narrative." One set of eight characters from the Jerle Federation respects and preserves the land's mystical, mana-generating Primordial Beasts, while another set of eight characters from the Gildllan Empire harvests their mana to strengthen their technology. As for the other five Adventurers, they aim to uncover the mystery behind the Primordial Beasts on their own. So, play, fight and discover secrets being every character in this possibly lengthy, complex, and heartfelt journey.
