TFT: Team Fight Tactic Update 14 - Everything New You Need To Know
Developed by the same developer of the world famous game League of Legends, TFT or Team Fight Tactic is an amazing magic chess gaming experience that allows players to play interactive chess games with all of the amazing champions from League of Legends.
With the end of season 13 and the introduction of the brand new season 14 update with a cyberpunk aesthetic, TFT is introducing various new and interesting game play mechanics for players to experience in order to take advantage of and become the victor against other chess players.
In this guide, we will go over the details of TFT - Team Fight Tactic’s special update season 14 - Cyber City and show players all the important changes coming to the game that players need to have a full understanding of so that they may shape the strategies for victory in this new season.
The most important part of TFT gameplay are the different chess pieces and their faction Traits with each other, providing the different chess pieces on the board with powerful buffs depending on the different faction buffs.
In the brand new update 14 patch - Cyber City, old chess pieces and Traits will be replaced with more futuristic chess pieces and brand new Traits. These new factions that players should be aware of are:
When activated, Cyberboss trait upgrades the strongest Cyberboss on your board to its final form, providing more attack, HP, AP and ability Size. When all 4 Cyberboss chess pieces are on the board, this upgrade effect is granted to all 4 of them.
Street Demons are a ragtag group of hex users that tag special hexes on the board with different formations each round. When activated, upon players placing chess pieces on Hex spaces, they will be granted more AP, HP and AD, with this effect being doubled for Street Demon Chess Pieces. The more Street Demon chess pieces are on the board, the more stats will be provided through hexes, with some signature hexes providing special effects.
A.M.P Chess Pieces gain individual class buffs and ability buffs depending on the amount of different A.M.P chess pieces on the board. Different A.M.P chess pieces will receive special effect buffs depending on their unique kit.
Anima Squad is a faction that relies on different equipment RNG. During a match, when the Anima Squad trait is active, a random Anima Squad chess piece will pick an equipment every tier and fire them off during the match. The chess piece will receive additional Armor, Magic Resist and Damage Amp. The higher the Anima Squad trait is, the more powerful equipment you can pick.
When activated, the Cypher trait allows players to gather Intel upon winning or losing the match, with the intel scaling higher with each enemy defeated and whenever you lose the match. Using the Intel you gathered, you will be able to exchange for chess pieces during specific rounds (3-3, 3-7, 4-3, or 4-7). Once spent, the more intel you spent, the more AD and AP Cypher Chess Pieces will gain.
When active, the Divini Corp trait grants special stats to Divini Corp chess pieces in play, with each chess piece receiving a specific stat that they want. The higher the trait count, the more stats are granted to the Divini Corp Chess Pieces.
Upon this trait activation, when defeating enemies, the enemies will drop equipment loot that can only be equipped by Exotech Chess Pieces. Each equipment provides beneficial stats and effects to Exotech Chess pieces, and the higher the Exotech trait is, the more stats are granted to the Exotech Chess Pieces with the equipment.
When Golden Ox trait is active, upon defeating the enemies, Golden Ox chess pieces have a chance to obtain gold for every kill. Using gold to reroll in the shop a number of times will permanently increase the AP of all Golden Ox Chess Pieces in exchange for a higher rerolling price. At maxed Golden Ox trait, defeating enemies may grant special loot as well.
Become the underworld criminal boss with the help of the Syndicate trait. Upon activation, the Syndicate trait grants the special Kingpin buff and effects to Syndicate chess pieces, granting them extra HP and allowing them to use their special teleporting abilities. Upon reaching Syndicate (7), the Kingpin buff effect will be enhanced and Syndicate chess pieces will gain special on kill effects.
Build a powerful laser with the help of the Nitro trait. Once activated, Nitro trait allows Nitro chess pieces to summon a small bot onto the battlefield. Upon defeating enemies, Nitro Chess Pieces will gather materials to upgrade the bot and make them extremely powerful. Upon completion, at Nitro (4) the bot will receive massive stat buffs and laser beams to fight against enemies.
Aside from the Traits as stated above where a set amount of chess pieces of the same trait must be achieved, there are special Traits unique only to specific chess pieces that players can obtain from the shop. These are:
- GAREN: GOD OF THE NET : When 2 players combat, Garen will open a trait modifier setting, allowing the player to modify a champion to be able to benefit from a trait permanently. This champion doesn’t contribute to the trait’s number, but will receive all the benefits from the trait itself.
- ZAC: VIRUS : When obtained, Zac Virus will infest the shop with a Virus that has a 10% chance to spawn a bloblet. When purchased, the bloblet will increase the Max HP and Ability power of Zac by a set amount.
With the release of TFT Update 14 - Cyber City, several in-game mechanics and features have experienced a massive change, affecting everything that the players may need to use during a chess match in order to achieve the ultimate victory. These changes range from game play mechanics, special buffs between chess rounds and the special buffs relating to the shop between each round.
With the cyber city aesthetic, the most important mechanic change to the game involve the special mechanic: Hacks
Between rounds, players will be able to select special hack buffs that benefit them during the round, with each hack having a different effect on the overall gameplay.
Some of the more notable hacks players can obtain includes:
- Themed Augment Slots: Your leftmost Augment slot will have additional rerolls and show Augments
- One Gold Augment, or two Silver Augments: Choose one stronger Gold Augment, or two potentially synergistic but weaker Silver Augments
- Fourth Augment: An additional round for choosing an Augment, bringing you to a total of no more than four total Augments
- Augment Timing: Augments can move to different rounds.
The shop itself may experience special hacking effects, with a slight chance to change to shop to special shops that benefits the players:
- Lucky Shops: Lucky shops will always have chess pieces that benefit your team or chess pieces from your highest trait.
- Two-Star Shops: Occasionally, a hacked unit will appear at two stars in your shop.
When choosing items from the Carousel, special items might get hacked and receive additional effects:
- Tailored Items: Each unit on the carousel will have two completed items attached, both of which will be from the unit’s recommended items list.
- Anvil Carousel: A carousel with anvils in place of champs and items
Aside from the different hack effects listed above, special hack effects might be triggered during, before or after each round, granting special effects to lucky players:
- Tactician Health: A small amount of Tactician Health has a chance to appear in some Hacked Loot Orbs.
- Unstable Item Components: Also available in Hacked Loot Orbs, Unstable Item Components transform into a different item component each round.
- Take it or Split it?: Opens up an Armory that presents two choices for all players: take 10 gold or split 30 gold from whoever chooses the latter.
- Sentinel Armory: Pick one of three Sentinels with three items each. These Sentinels will all have items of the same class and be: Tank Sentinel, Frontline Attacker Sentinel, or Backline Sentinel.
