The first thing you should know about the Elemental Reaction System is you will not be able to spam it like similar games like this; this system will be most advantageous when you are fighting with a lot of enemies or an enemy that has a high HP point. 

This is because if you want to activate an Elemental Reaction, first, you have to attack with one element until you fill one of the three circles located near the left side of your Exp bar. When it is active, you will see a glowing ring around the circle; then, you have to change into the next element you want to activate the reaction with. 

Elemental Priority

The next key thing to understand about this system is the priority of the elements. Dark element has the highest priority, meaning it will override any other elemental reaction if it is used as the primary or secondary element in an elemental reaction chain. Ice element, on the other hand, has the lowest priority and will be overridden by other elements.

It's also important to note that the same elements do not react with each other. This means that using two fire abilities in succession will not create an elemental reaction. Instead, you will need to use different elements in order to activate the elemental reaction system.

The order in which the elements are used also does not matter. Using the dark element first and then using the ice element will have the same effect as using the ice element first and then using the dark element. This means that you can choose any element as the primary or secondary element in an elemental reaction chain.

Wuthering Waves Elements and Their Reactions

Dark Element

Dark reacts with every element, and when you activate dark elemental reaction, you will do dark + the other element damage and reduce the enemy resistance to the second element (single target).

• Lightning Erosion (Dark+Lightning): Cause Lightning and Dark damage and reduces enemy resistance to lightning by 30% for ten seconds. 

• Fire Erosion (Dark+Fire): Causes Fire and Dark damage and reduces enemy resistance to Fire by 30% for ten seconds. 

• Ice Erosion (Dark+Ice): Causes Ice and Dark damage and reduces enemy resistance to Ice by 30% for ten seconds. 

• Light Erosion (Dark+Light): Causes Light and Dark damage and reduces enemy resistance to Light by 30% for ten seconds. 

• Wind Erosion (Dark+Wind): Causes Wind and Dark damage and reduces enemy resistance to Wind by 30% for ten seconds. 

Light Element

Same as the dark element reaction; when elements react with the Light element, it reduces the resistance of the second element. But resistance reduction is 10% more than the dark, and triggering this reaction will stop time (area of effect). The only downside to this reaction is it only lasts for three seconds. These reactions will be perfect if you have time to do a lot of damage from one element in a short amount of time.

• Wind Domain (Light+Wind): Time stops within the range and reduces enemy wind resistance within the area by 40% for three seconds. 

• Lightning Domain (Light+Lightning): Time stops within the range and reduces enemy Lightning resistance within the area by 40% for three seconds. 

• Ice Domain (Light+Ice): Time stops within the range and reduces enemy Ice resistance within the area by 40% for three seconds. 

• Ice Domain (Light+Ice): Time stops within the range and reduces enemy Ice resistance within the area by 40% for three seconds. 

• Fire Domain (Light+Fire): Time stops within the range and reduces enemy Fire resistance within the area by 40% for three seconds. 

Wind Element

The Wind element reacts with Lightning, Fire, and Ice gives you different effects; all the wind reactions pull enemies into the center of the reaction and give different results according to the element it reacted with. 

• Lightning Array (Wind+Lightning): Gather monsters in the area and cause lightning damage. It will also raise your armor and increase your audio bar. 

• Fire Array (Wind+Fire): Gather monsters in the area and cause Fire and wind damage, then mark the target and place a five-second damage over time effect that deals fire damage on the target.

• Ice Array(Wind+Ice): Gather monsters in the area and cause ice and wind area damage and freeze any target injured by the attack. 

High Damage Elemental Reactions

Other than the above elemental reactions, in Wuthering Waves, there are three elemental reactions that give you high damage output. They can be used in situations you purely desire high DPS. Following are the ways you can do that. 

• Fire Damage (Lighting+Fire): Deals a high amount of Fire and lightning damage. 

• Ice Damage (Lightning+Ice): Deals a high amount of Ice and Lightning damage. 

• Frigid (Fire+Ice): Deal massive amounts of Fire and ice damage. This is the highest damage output elemental reaction.
