In the midst of the clump of various problems in this country, there are some interesting phenomena that are worth contemplating. One of them is the increasing crisis of figures who can be used as role models for many people, especially the younger generation. Teenagers have lost an idol that can be used as role models. Even if there were, the people they idolized were artists or film players, most of whom could not be used as role models because they were empty of religious values and far from the pure civilization of our nation.
In fact, the Indonesian nation is very rich with figures that can be used as idols. Call it the heroes who fought to free our country from the hands of the invaders, such as General Sudirman, Tuanku Imam Bonjol, Prince Diponegoro and a number of other heroes. More specifically, Islam has far more figures that can be used as role models, either after the death of the Prophet Muhammad, or before he was born.
However, these figures are unknown to children because they do not know who the figures are.
The book currently in the hands of the reader is only a work that tries to break down one side of the problems above, namely the exemplary crisis. 'Although the compilers believe, this action is like banging your head against a hard rock wall, but at least this is an attempt of an experiment.
The author tries to offer several figures of the companions of the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam who are clearly exemplary. Maybe too idealistic if you want to imitate their way of life as a whole.
But, at least our generation has figures they can idolize, and make them role models. At least, we know people who fought for Islam in its early days. At the very least, we can provide alternative readings for them, the nation's generation, amidst the splendor of tempting entertainment.
