Boris Slavchev Description
Before coming to Italy I worked as an editor, cameraman and director on various projects in Sofia, Bulgaria. I made three 30-minute films that presented Northern Greece, especially the Greek cuisine in the territory of
Macedonia, the story of Aristotle and the city of Thessaloniki. The films were broadcast on the Bulgarian nation network. I made two educational videos funded by the European Union and I have an internship in Bulgarian national television
(BNT) as assistant director. I arrived in Italy in 2018 doing European Voluntary Service (EVS) in Padua for six months. After this experience I moved to Rome for
study. I graduated in "Theatre, Cinema, Dance and Digital Arts" at the University of Sapienza in Rome. Then I specialized in film direction at the "Renoir" Academy of Cinema in Rome.
In Italy I made my short fiction film entitled “The Connection” with the participation of an international cast, both Bulgarian and Italian. The film won the Best Action Short Film Award at the “Fort
Smith International Film Festival” in the United States, was nominated at the “Osaka International Film Festival” and finalist at the “Cefalù Film Festival”. During the pandemic I won a tender for the creation of a
documentary entitled "The legacy of Boris Christoff" which tells the life of the great Bulgarian opera singer who lived most of his life in Italy, in Rome. The film is 47 minutes long and was presented in theaters in various cities in Bulgaria as part of the “Master of Art Film Festival”. The documentary was screened to the Italian public at the Casa del Cinema in Rome, taking part in the 15th edition of the "Bulgarian Film Festival".
Since I've been in Rome I've been working as a freelance photographer. My photographs are published on various sites and pages. With my equipment I filmed the president of Bulgaria, important conductors, ballets, actors, politicians and others.
