The Sudanese Republic was at an earlier time, especially in the late nineteenth century, a destination for students of Islamic sciences, because it was famous for its large number of sheikhs and Quran memorizers. The imam and reciter who was able to create for himself a wide audience of listeners thanks to the uniqueness of his voice.
In the city of Omdurman, located along the western bank of both the Nile and the White Nile opposite the Sudanese city of Khartoum, it was the beginning, the beginning of a sheikh who would say his word in the field of recitation of the Noble Qur’an. He is Sheikh Al-Fatih Muhammad Othman Al-Zubair, who imbibed the love of the Book of God from his early childhood, as his father was the supervisor of a Quranic retreat he established in the early thirties to memorize the Holy Quran as it is known throughout Sudan.
Sheikh Al-Zubair was able to memorize the entire Holy Qur’an at an early age, by relying on the traditional method of memorization that was widespread in Sudan, that is, by writing on the board and reviewing the memorization aloud to the supervisor of the seclusion, after which he joined the University of the Holy Qur’an in Khartoum, specializing in Islamic studies.
Sheikh Al-Fatih Al-Zubair enjoys a high social status in Sudan, thanks to his supervision of the “Al-Zubair Retreat” that he inherited from his father, which graduates hundreds of memorizers of the Holy Qur’an, in addition to his leadership of the Great Al-Zubair Mosque in Omdurman.
Sheikh Al-Zubayr is considered an embodiment of the peculiarity of the people of Sudan in reciting the Qur’an based on the narration of Abu Omar Al-Douri, “and it is the narration that is almost unique to Sudan from all other countries.”
Sheikh Al-Fateh Al-Zubair enriched Sudan’s audio library with many Quranic recordings broadcast by Sudanese channels, in addition to recording a recited Qur’an that is distributed in various cities of the Republic.
