Gomoku - Five in a Row Description
About the game
Gomoku, also known as Five in a Row, is a two-player abstract strategy game played mostly on a board of 15x15 grid lines or squares. The game's objective is to be the first player to place five stones of their color in a row, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
The game begins with an empty board. One player takes the black stones, and the other takes the white stones. Players take turns placing one stone of their color on an empty square of the grid.
Once a player has placed five stones in a row, he wins the game, and the game ends. If the board is filled with stones, and neither player has won, the game ends in a draw.
Gomoku is a simple game to learn, but it requires strategy and skill to master. Players must be able to anticipate their opponent's moves and plan ahead to create their own winning combinations while blocking their opponent's attempts. The game can also be played on different sized boards, with different variations of rules, such as prohibiting the creation of certain patterns or requiring the player to win by an exact five in a row.
