Time Zones Description
This app helps you visualize how the time zones are distributed around the globe and to compare time in different time zones. An area where a uniform standard time applies for social, economic and legal purposes is referred to as a time zone. Each standard time zones is 15 degrees of longitude wide. A time zone is ideally one of 24 spherical sections on the globe in a north/south direction, being assigned with one of the 24 hours interval. All these zones are defined by an offset from the Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) by a number of hours (UTC−12 to UTC+14) centered on the prime meridian (0°).
How it works
- The first page (tap the left button) hosts a high-resolution map of the entire globe, showing the shape of each time zone. You can pan, zoom-in or zoom-out, finding out the time offset for any region. Tap the '+' button to calculate the time difference between two countries; choose the first and the second country, then select the DST (Daylight Saving Time) checkboxes if applies. The new local time can be manually SET, this operation being very useful when the Internet and location services are not available.
- The second page (tap #) shows the world's political map (all countries and their capitals); the latitude and longitude are displayed for the center of the picture (the white circle).
- The third page shows a color-coded map that helps you identify the current season for a particular region or latitude (also pointed by the white circle).
Features
-- High-resolution maps
-- Easy to use app
-- Easy time zone change
-- Accurate latitude and longitude values
-- no intrusive ads, no limitations
