MadPainter Lite Description
MadPainter Lite is a very user-friendly app. Load your photo by tapping the plus icon. The save icon is situated below the loaded image so you can easily save the result. Switch modes by touching the screen center. Save another version. Load another photo. That’s it. We like it simple.
The app works completely offline, there are no ads and we’re not collecting any data.
There are 5 different ways the Mad Painter (full version) will try to reproduce your photo:
1) Random Walkers (Runners)
(This one uses a random process in which each step taken is independent of the previous steps, and the direction of each step is determined randomly. It's like a drunk person staggering in different directions. Also, when searching for food, some animals like bees or ants may move in this manner. The concept of random walk helps model various real-world phenomena and is used in simulations and analysis. This painter is mad about it.)
2) Sunflower – Full Version only
(It is inspired by The Sunflower Spiral – an attractive pattern formed by the disk florets of a sunflower. We’re using different angles (not just golden angle = 137.5°) and randomize other parameters to get a variety of styles. So each time you get a different version. It works best with square (1:1) photos. There’s no animation here, the effect is instantaneous.)
3) PartiPaint (Painting with particles)
(We have a bunch of particles that likes to party with your photos, especially selfies that are 1:1 (square). Using other ratios are far from satisfactory. Particles are constantly moving in a circle.)
4) PartiPaint Accumulator
(It’s exactly the same as the previous one, but this one allows particles to accumulate, allowing for much less abstract but also much less dynamic representation.)
5) Alien Sketch – Full Version only
(And the last one is the one that we like the most. Here we’re using Lotka–Volterra equations (Predator-prey model) to help guide the hand of the painter. The model is used to describe the dynamics of biological systems in which two species interact. This looks great (and very alien) in early stages (after a few or after a couple of secs) but you might also appreciate the more detailed look it achieves after it’s left free to roam for a while. We’re using it not just on portraits but literally on everything (it’s a hit or miss this way but hey otherwise there will be no prey and eventually no predators.)
This lite version gives you Random Walkers and two variants of PartiPaint to explore. You can use it for as long as you like and you have unlimited saves.
If you think you are ready for more, for a trivial cost you may get a full version which contains two additional cool photo effects:

Despite occasionally using the first-person plural, I’m a solo developer. I am dedicated to creating some experimental graphical stuff. If you feel like buying me a coffee or even a donut, I won't say no. My Paypal: lordian12345@yahoo.com
After donating (donuting), as a humble thank you, I'll create (if you want me to) a unique digital piece of generative abstract art just for you (non-AI one, nothing’s wrong with AI but that would be too easy) and send it to your email address as a png picture file - with your explicit permission of course.
You could also use the email address above to send me a suggestion regarding the app.
Thanks for being a part of this journey, enjoy and God bless.
