Science Experiments Description
Science experiences are essential for all students because science promotes understanding of the natural world and nurtures students' abilities to make informed decisions.
At its most fundamental, science is the search for patterns and the study of cause and effect.
Careful observation, inquisitiveness, sequential thinking, logical reasoning, and creativity are cornerstones of good science, and we expect all students to exhibit these traits as they explore and apply scientific principles.
The fifth grade science program continues the development of an inquiring mind through application of the scientific method.
During the units of study the students apply the skills of observing, questioning, collecting data, predicting, and communicating about scientific content.
Students develop testable questions and conduct fair test experiments as they investigate different aspects of the natural world.
Fifth grade science experiences include :
+ Light :
an investigation of many properties of light, including transmission, absorbance, reflection, refraction, and color — the structure and function of the human eye is compared with a camera and the transmission of signals from eyes to the brain is studied
+ Sound :
an investigation of many properties of sound, including transmission, absorbance, reflection, pitch, and loudness — the structure and function of the human ear and how it transmits signals for the brain to interpret is studied
+ Electricity and Magnetism :
experimentation to learn how energy is transferred through the use of electricity, and investigate some of the characteristics of electricity, electric circuits and magnetism—series circuits, parallel circuits, batteries, switches, bulbs, resistance and magnetic attraction are among the concepts investigated
+ Astronomy :
investigation of how the motions of the Sun, Earth, and Moon cause day and night, the phases of the Moon, and the seasons—students conduct research regarding other aspects of the Solar System, including the planets, minor planets, asteroids and meteors
+ Go With The Flow :
application of scientific methods, through an inquiry-based performance task, which students use to investigate the electrical conductivity of a variety of materials—students design and conduct an experiment to determine if materials are good conductors or good insulators and conduct experiments to compare/contrast the electrical characteristics of incandescent bulbs and LEDs
+ Planetarium Field Trip :
an experience involving a full-dome video, demonstrations of the night sky, and a series of demonstrations about the behavior of light
How to play?
Playing is pretty simple :
1. See the picture
2. Read the question carefully
3. Choose the right answer
4. Need help? Ask your friend in Facebook (in the wrong answer page)
How to be a Top Player?
1. Invite your friends to play this game
2. Invite more friends, to win more coins if you answer the correct word
3. Open the Social, Login Facebook, and Invite people
4. Open the Top Player, and see your rivals all around the world
5. Good luck and don't crack / hack this game! hahaha..
