Serba-Serbi Sujud Tilawah Description
This Android application is an Explanation About the Purpose of Sujud Recitations by Maharati Marfuah, Lc. In PDF format.
All-Serbi Sujud Recitations
A. Understanding
Sujud recitation is a term consisting of two basic words, namely prostration and recitation; both of which are of Arabic origin.
Sujud etymologically means to submit and humble oneself. Meanwhile, in terms of terminology, it means a movement by placing the forehead on the ground; which movement is not foreign to us.
While the word recitation means reading, this term is more often used in the sense of reading the Qur'an.
From the two meanings above, the meaning of prostration of recitations is prostration caused by reading verses of the Qur'an. Namely performing prostration after reading the verses of the prayer mat.
Scholars sometimes use the term prostration of the Qur'an instead of prostration of recitations1. Although actually complete is prostration recitations of the Qur'an.
B. The law of prostration of recitations
The scholars agree that prostration of recitations is a practice that is prescribed by law, but they differ on the law, is it obligatory or sunnah?
The Syafi'i and Hambali schools are of the opinion that prostration of recitations is sunnah muakadah, as Allah says:
Say: "Believe in him or do not have to believe (it's the same for Allah). Indeed, those who were given prior knowledge when the Quran was recited to them, they bowed down on their faces while prostrating, And they said: "Glory be to our Lord, Verily, the promise of our Lord will surely be fulfilled."
