Sibel's Journey Description
13-year-old Sibel travels to Berlin to see her best friend Sarah, and to visit her aunt Meral. As a surprise, Sibel plans to arrive a day early and stay at her aunt's house. She is very excited to see Sarah—not least because Sarah has a secret to reveal that she did not want to share with Sarah over the phone. But where is Sarah? Finding her friend turns out to be more difficult than she thought. And what is Sarah's secret? Join Sibel on her Journey to find out!
Sibel's Journey is a game on gender, sexuality, bodies, and personal boundaries. Adopting an intersectional approach, Sibel’s Journey provides young people with sound knowledge and a positive attitude about topics such as anatomy, body image, consent, communication, contraception, gender identity, and healthy relationships.
You can decide which topics are addressed in which order by which character, actively initiate the conversations, and decide in which order and at what speed you want to play. You can unlock more in-depth information by holding conversations with the game characters, clicking on objects, or playing mini-games. The information you gather is automatically collected on Sibel’s smartphone in an app. Mini-games, interwoven into the story, create variety by breaking up the dialogue mechanism. They also repeat and detail the collected information or reveal new information.
Approaching the subject of sexuality and gender in early adolescence can be scary, overwhelming, and often shameful. As a countermeasure, Sibel’s Journey taps into the potential of mobile games as a proven method for self-learning. The players interactively explore the content without having to ask an adult. As players’ engagement with the game increases, their motivation, and ability to remember the learning material improves.
We recommend using a tablet instead of a smartphone for a better experience.
The game is available in English, German and Turkish language
