I was hesitant to purchase this app, but so glad I did! I've been to the Big Island before, but this time came with a multi generational family (ages 8 to 76). We saw so many things and learned so much, moat of which I missed the first time. The app also helped with navigation in conjunction with waze although the latter wasn't needed with the app necessarily. I highly recommend purchasing this app if you want to explore on your own.
Best money spent! We loved it! The advice, directions, history, folklore and music were great. The Shaka dude was lively, engaging and easy to listen to. Took a little while to learn all the options with the app and we had some issues connecting it to our rental car. We never would have learned or seen so much without Shaka. It also saved me hours of pre trip research. I wish there was a Shaka guide for everywhere else we want to travel.
This was the PERFECT choice for our trip. We took our family of 6 on two of the tours. Everyone loved it. Friendly tour guide voice, well-planned out, ended up visiting some spots we never would have found on our own. You can spend as much time as you want at each spot, or skip the ones you aren't interested in. Carl Smith Park in Hilo is amazing!
