Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier is an enticing new battle royale game from acclaimed developers Square Enix. The game introduces unfamiliar players to the world of Final Fantasy and some of its most interesting characters and features. And for players familiar with the Final Fantasy universe, they're about to experience a whole new battle royale game that, while introducing many new features, adds a very uncommon one – magic!
We've detailed some of the exciting features of Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier in our other beginner's guides, such as the Summons, Materia, and special ability. So in this article, we'll be giving you a thorough guide on the game's battle royale features and the cool things you can do while facing enemies and trying to stay alive.
This is the last phase of the game's tutorial, and it takes place in the Fray where your commanding officer named Lucia will prepare you for the final training. Like in every other battle royale game, your main objective is to be the last man standing. So this second tutorial Phase in the game is made to help you scale through this stage and master the game's concepts.
Weapons play an integral role in this game, and even though they're able to keep you alive to a certain time, you can't win against real opponents using a sword because it is only good for long-range attacks, but hey, we never said you couldn't try. But to be on the safe side, you best find weapons as well, so you have both weapon and sword to back you up.
You can find different types of firearms by searching the vicinity and looking inside different houses. Eventually, you'll find both weapons and armor. Sometimes you'll find unique-looking chests that hold valuable items such as portions and Gil – the purpose of these items will be later explained in this guide.
So while searching for weapons, keep an eye out for chests as well because you may just find something far valuable than a weapon. Another way to get items and even weapons is by collecting items from a dead enemy. Whenever you kill an enemy or come across one killed by a different player, you can actually collect their items and add them to your inventory. Some enemies carry items that surpass your own, so always check to see what they died carrying.
The map is an important part of every battle royale game because it's how you navigate your movement, your next destination, check for information on hazardous areas, and place markers on a map by tapping on any location to pinpoint it. This allows you to get to your desired location faster.
The map will also show you symbols that will appear towards any marker you've placed on it. Moving around is quite simple because of the game's parkour and climb feature. If you're heading to any location on the map, you'll get there faster because there are little to no obstacles that can block your path. Parkour allows your characters to climb walls and windows.
This is also another interesting feature in this game. Players can upgrade their weapons while in battle using Gil. It can be acquired by opening those unique chests we told you about, and you can use them to upgrade your weapons at the various vending machines located across every location on the map.
And that's not all. You can also refill your Materia and other resources using vending machines as well. So that's pretty cool because it's like a time-out. If you're out of armor or your weapon isn't good enough, you can locate a vending machine, and with enough Gil, you can get yourself a new weapon or upgrade the existing one.
Whenever you attain a specific XP threshold, your character will level up. And leveling up is highly recommended because it increases both your HP and MP to new level milestones, allowing your Style skills to grow even stronger.
The leveling up is faster than if you've reached a high level in the game if you're starting out. So for beginners, they'll level up as quickly as killing an enemy. Another way to level up easily is by killing mini monsters. These are tiny red monsters that you'll come across in certain locations, and they'll come at you for one purpose only – to kill you. So you can decide to kill them first. And we suggest using Melee weapons against them rather than guns.
There are cool vehicles that you can drive in this game, but there aren't many options to choose from just yet. We hope they will add more in future updates. But as it stands, the automobiles in this game are pretty cool-looking, but the control is one-handed and with a joystick. Perhaps this can be adjusted in this game's settings as well.
But we're not sure because the tutorial does not prompt a vehicle control button change for players to choose their preferred control. But if this cannot be adjusted, we can add it to the list of changes we expect to see in the game's future updates. Vehicles are important because they let you travel to far distances quickly or if you're trying to escape a safe zone shrink which releases a deadly gas that can kill you if you don't get out of it in time.
The game has standard utility vehicles, helicopters, bikes, and Chocobos (an ostrich-like animal from the Final Fantasy universe).
The game has two game modes with three subsidiary modes that you can play. Ranked Match and Standard Match. Each of these modes has three modes that are Team, Solo, and Chocobo farm. Team mode lets you play with friends as a team and be the last man standing. Solo means you're heading out alone and hope to be the last man standing.
Unlike other vehicles, the game doesn't give you a Choboco animal from the start; you have to get one yourself, so we can assume that the Chocobo farm is where you'll try to get a Choboco.
