Recommended Runes and Equipment Sets in Magnum Quest

2021-08-14

Today, we will talk about the recommended Runes and Sets for some of the Heroes in Magnum Quest that can further enhance your game. We have listed all the Runes and Sets in different sections of the Guide in the form of tables and, as a few examples, mentioned some Heroes and why the Runes and Sets are important for each. After reading through this guide, you will have in-depth knowledge of what sets are necessary for specific Heroes.

Magnum Quest is a Gacha and Hero collector RPG, which prides itself with a non-energy-based along with some Idle game mechanics. In Magnum Quest, there is no energy; rather, the game lets you play as long as you want and only limits you in Rotational content, some of which you can complete once per day.

The second thing it does differently is that, as soon as you unlock the Squad function, you choose 5 Heroes from your Roster, and the Hero that has the lowest Lvl is the Lvl that all your other Heroes will have in the squad of which initially you are allowed 3 Heroes to place other than 5 leading Heroes.

The Squad means that if you’re Fifth Hero has Lvl 100; all your Squad members will have boosted Lvl of 100; it doesn't matter which Lvl they were before adding the to Squad Roster, even if they have Lvl 1 before adding to the Squad. The Squad function is a great function to this game. We have highlighted this and many more functions in our Beginner's Guide; please have a read-through.

Before getting into publishing this Guide, we previously discussed in detail the Combination options and mechanics of the game in our Building the Best Teams Guide to enhance your knowledge in the game, so after building up your end-game teams, you should know finally how to equip them properly as Runes, and 5* equipment sets are unlocked much after in the game. Before that, you don't have to know about them as there are other mechanics in the game that you need to familiarize yourself with.

Let’s begin our discussion on recommended Gear in Magnum Quest.

Magnum Quest Recommended Runes and Sets-recommended Runes

Runes Recommendations:

Runes in Magnum are an essential piece in Heroes' power; they are another class of gear you can equip on your Heroes to make them stronger. With the Runes equipped, you can increase your Hero's Attack, Survivability, and energy regen, among others. You can start farming and equipping Runes once you have completed stage 20 of chapter 14 in the game. Stage 20 is a story mission you can unlock in the Battle mode of the game. At stage 40 of chapter 15, you can also start farming Runes from the Dragon Summons interface.

One thing to note before investing in and equipping Runes is that you need to know what Runes benefit you and what their purpose is. As an example, you need to balance your Runes when we talk about Crit rate and Crit DMG because higher Crit DMG won’t do you good if your Crit is low so for example, if your Crit rate is lower than 50%, then equipping a high Crit DMG Rune along with it is useless. You can, though, increase the drop chance of a higher Crit rate by doing more content of more challenging missions.

Following are some recommended Runes you can put on the corresponding Heroes. When reading from this table, focus on what type of Heroes you are playing and their requirements. You can follow the tips to look into Runes and Recommended Runes based on the following:

  • First Table is the Recommended Runes for each of the Heroes presently in this game.
  • The second table is a list of all the Runes currently in the game.
  • Below the second table, we have explained the runes associated with some of the Heroes. This explanation is to get an idea of what to plan for in the game.

An important thing to note here is that Bronze Tier runes will have a max of 3 stats, four stats for Silver, and 5 for gold, so in the end-game, you should always aim for a higher star rating Gold Tier Runes.

Sur – Support – Divinity Faction:

Recommended Rune: Green

Recommended Stat from Green: DMG

Sur is a Legendary V support, but her kit makes her an off-tank Healer with Hybrid DD, she is a combination of all three, and that's why a sought-after Hero. She can heal and share her ultimate with all her team members in which she shares her Attack with the whole team and dispenses energy to her allies.

Her Skills:

The Dragon's Awakening skill increases her Attack, which further increases when this skill is upgraded to Lvl 2. Her Scorched Earth skill has two scenarios; first, it deals 150% attack damage to enemies while healing allies for 100% of her Attack per second for 6 seconds. At Lvl 2, this skill's DMG and HP recovery increases while Sur is getting HP recovery if she is awakened. Lvl 3 further increases the DMG and Healing. Reign of the Past increases her Attack, which also stacks.

Reason for Choosing Green Rune:

From her skill set, we see that all her DMG and Healing is scaling with her ATK value, and therefore Green Rune is recommended for this Healer support and not energy recovery Runes. Upgrading these Runes will give energy gains as a bonus.

Ione – Support – Forest Faction:

Recommended Rune: Green

Recommended Stat from Green: Dodge (DDG)

Ione is another Support on our list, and She is Legendary V from the Forest Faction. She is a Hybrid Healer/CC Hero. The most prominent of her skills is the Vine to the Rescue, which gives Second Life to any character, making her valuable in any team. Her shields and heals, along with confining the enemy heroes, make her much more needed than a single Healer or single Debuff Hero.

Her Skills:

Her Jungle's Fury entangles her enemies while becoming immune to CC when at Lvl 2 and increasing the DMG of this skill, including Entangle's DMG at Lvl 3 while also toughening her skin to reduce DMG taken. The Lurking Skill can Entangle a hero once more as soon as her Jungle's Fury is cast and increases the chance of Entangling to two enemies at Lvl 2 of this skill. Her Jungle's Shield also Entangles an enemy who damages an ally; this skill also gives the shield. Jungle's Shield skill's attack reduction increases with increased Lvl. As we mentioned, Vines to the Rescue provides an ally with Second Life, who has died.

Reason for Choosing Green:

For Ione, we are looking for DDG – Dodge in the Green Runes because her skills are usable for the CC she provides, and they don't scale off of anything, so the best option for Her is to give her more Dodge stat so she can survive longer by dodging enemy attacks.

Ares – Damage Dealer – Wild Faction:

Recommended Rune: Red/Green

Recommended Stat from Green: CRIT, CRIT DMG

Ares is the top Tier DD in the game, a Legendary V hero from the Wild Faction, because of his Leeching abilities, making him Tanky while dealing tons of Damage from his skill. His AoE damage dealing skills make him one of the best farmers. He is without match when you want to clear content reliably.

His Skill Set:

His Tornado Slash ability deals 175% AoE damage to enemies and gains the Leech ability at Lvl 3 while becomes immune to all Crowd Control abilities while performing this ability. His Sweep attack adds Bleed after dealing 140% ATK damage. Lvling up this skill increases the DMG dealt from ATK and Bleed and reduces enemy DEF to increase DMG further.

Reasons for Choosing Red & Green Rune:

All DD need Crit rate increase to proc Crit DMG multiplier that much often. As we said initially, increasing the Crit rate is a top priority before you would go Crit DMG multiplier. So Red when you're starting out and then Green Rune addition for end-game. It will benefit tons if you find a Crit DMG stat on the Reds, as initially, you could focus on a single Rune instead of more.

Magnum Quest Recommended Runes and Sets-Feng

Feng – Damage Dealer – Fortress:

Recommended Rune: Red

Recommended Stat from Green: CRIT, CRIT DMG

Feng is this game's top Boss DD and survivor as He doesn't rely on RNG for his Damage. He has the most serious burst damage in the game from his skills and shines when building with Crit and Crit DMG, but he needs to have his ultimate upgraded when he reaches Lvl 201. Works excellent with buffs for Damage from Sur, and Cinia and survivability from Arthur, Ione.

His Skills:

With his skill Tao Supremacy, he deals a 3 stage AoE damage which even provides a shield equal to Damage dealt when this skill is upgraded. Tao Intensity also deals AoE damage while knocking down enemies when upgraded, also increasing Damage. Tao Devotion increase all Damage increasing with Lvl.

Reason for Choosing Red Rune:

Precisely the exact reason for any other DD; he is a pure DD, so his Damage needs to be maximized, and therefore Crit rate increase with max Crit DMG will do the trick, and he will become more deadly when fighting Bosses.

Magnum Quest Recommended Runes and Sets-Rickers

Rickers – Tank – Wild:

Recommended Rune: Blue

Recommended Stat from Green: DMG, CRIT RES

Rickers is a Legendary V Tank from the Wild Faction, who excels in Crowd Controlling the battlefield by Stunning his opponents with his skills and has one of the highest base DEF and HP in the game. He is excellent in all of the content as a CC Tank other than where you fight Bosses as Stuns don't work on them, so make him part of your team for most farming content, just not the Dungeons and Raids.

His Skills:

All 3 of his skills, Primal Stampede, Furious Combo Strike, and Warcry, in one way or another, can apply Stun on the enemies so effectively he can stun three enemies in the opponent’s team during each cycle of his skills. Upgrading these skills increases the duration and chances of stunning the enemy. His Warcry skill increases his max HP during the effect while Tribal Defense procs an all damage immunity once per battle if he falls below 70% and an additional time when upgraded.

Reason for Green:

We are looking for -DMG and CRIT RES stats on the Green Runes to increase his survivability, so the longer he stays as a CC Tank in the fight, the more stuns he can make, which increases his effectiveness as a CC Tank.

Alden – Tank – Shadow:

Recommended Rune: Blue/Green

Recommended Stat from Green:-DMG, CRIT RES

Alden is a Legendary V Ice Tank from the Shadow Faction and a front-line Tank who can resurrect both allies and enemies, especially after reaching Lvl 251. Although a good tank for regular missions and content, not so good against Bosses and needs a lot of pumping to work correctly.

His Skills:

He can freeze opponents after dealing Damage to enemies for 4 seconds with his Frozen Land skill and blocking enemy regeneration for 8 seconds. Shield of Evil gives him a shield whose amount increases with Lvl. His Necromancer resurrects dead allies and, when Lvled up, can even resurrect enemies to fight on his side.

Reason for Choosing Blue/Green Rune:

Same as with any other Tank, reduction in receiving Damage so he can survive longer and Crit DMG resistance for the same. His skills are what he is used as a Tank for, so any other stat is a boon but reduced DMG plus Crit DMG RES is what he needs.

Rune Upgrading and Explanations:

You can loot and find three types of Runes, Attack, Revitalization, and Gracious Outpour.

Attack Rune –TheAttack Rune, which increases your Hero's Attack, starts as increasing 1% if you have them at Gold Tier and three stars. Attack Rune is the Level 1 of the Rune, which adds Crit DMG when it is enhanced to 4* while increasing both ATK and Crit DMG when 5*.

Revitalization Rune –Second is the Revitalization Rune, which helps you gain energy points per second during the battle, which becomes useful for some of your Heroes.

Gracious Rune –3rd is the Gracious outpouring Rune, which increases your DEF and restores 1% of your max HP every 3 sec. during battle and at max Rarity, gives you the max values of these stats

Upgrading –The runes, like all others, provide increased bonuses with increasing Tier and Rarity. Secondly, the bronze Tier has only three stats while Silver will have four, and finally, the gold will have five stats at the base level, which adds up to your Hero's potential. To increase the level and Ascension of your Runes, you will need three potions: Breath of the Mortal, Breath of the Spirit, and Breath of the Divine. You will use the Breath of the Mortal to increase your Runes to Bronze level, while You will use Breath of the Spirit to get your Runes to Silver Level, and finally, you will use the Breath of the Divine potion to increase the Tier up to gold.

For example, if you want to increase the Rarity of a 2* Silver Rune to 3*, which will be the max in this Tier, you would need Four Breath of the Mortal. Similarly, if you want to increase your Silver Rune from 3* to 4*, you can strengthen it, you would need eight Breaths, and for Gold increase, you will need 16 to increase the Rarity level of Breath of the Divine. You can get potions from different missions in the game or by dismantling your Runes. Each dismantling depends on the Rune Tier; you get different types and numbers of potions.

Once you have chosen which Runes you want to mount on your main Hero, it is vital to confirm your investing characteristics. For example, when we talk about Ares, you would like to invest in DMG for the Hero. Consequently, you will choose Runes that maximize the DMG, meaning you would go for ATK and add up Crit DMG.

Farming –You can farm runes from the Ash, The Corrupt Stone Spirit, Dungeon. With the increasing level of the Dungeon, you get better chances of getting a Gold Rune, but for that, you periodically need to invest in your Heroes and increase their power.

Sur – Support – Divinity Faction:

Sur heals scale off of her Attack power, and because of that, we recommended the Green Runes, which will increase her Damage, and you will follow the same thought process here in the case of equipment.

Recommended Gear:

We recommend Brain or Arcane set as with 2-Piece bonus we get DEF +5%, and with 3-Piece we get HP +12% while finally with a 4-Piece, we get ATK +10%, which is the main bonus we are going for because of what we mentioned above. In short, we want to maximize her ATK power as much as possible when we have capable Tanks in the front.

Naomi – Support – Wild Faction:

Naomi is a Legendary V Intelligence-based Hero and belongs to the Wild Faction. She is one of those healers who can also remove buffs from other Heroes and silencing enemies so they can't cast any spells and abilities. Naomi synergizes well with the Wild heroes, as it increases their Attack and defense. At level 276, this buff begins to affect all allies, but only with 50% effectiveness.

Her Skills:

Her Dragon Fall skill can remove all the buffs from her enemies, and when increased in Lvl, she can also remove the debuffs from her allies, making her a great asset because of this. Similarly, her utility doesn't end here; with her Wolf Bone Curse, she can silence one Hero, making them unable to cast any spells, and after upgrading this skill, she can also silence one more enemy. Power of the Totem is her healing spell which heals allies and an area that increases with each Lvl. While her final skill, Spiritual Leader, buffs all her allies with DEF and ATK.

Recommended Rune and Gear:

She has been recommended with Red/Blue Runes, which can provide her with DDG, CRIT RES like most Tanks, and Supports to maximize her CC spells. Her set gear is a similar recommendation to Sur's, which is a brain set that shares stat to allies which also from Brain or Arcane set gives your team from 2-Piece bonus we get DEF +5% and with 3-Piece we get HP +12%. In contrast, finally, with a 4-Piece, we get ATK +10%, which is the main bonus we are going for because of what we mentioned above.

Magnum Quest Recommended Runes and Sets-Recommended Sets

Ares – Damage Dealer – Wild Faction:

As we have mentioned above in the Runes section, Ares is a top-class DD which is recommended to use Red/Green Runes to maximize his CRIT and maximize the Damage by making high CRIT DMG.

Recommended Set for Ares:

The sets recommended for Ares are from either of the Axe or Fist, as the Set "Axe" is good up to golden runes with a proc +20% Crit Chance; after golden runes, "Fist" is better. Firstly, the ax 2-Piece provides HIT +30 while 3-Piece provides -PHYDMG TAKEN 15% and finally 4-Piece gives CRIT +20%, so the 4-Piece is best if you want to go for a full DD build wherefrom the Courage 2-Piece set you'll be getting ATK +6% completing the build. But if you're going to make him tankier, you can take 4-Piece of Courage which gives HP +15% for total HP, while you'll still be getting a 2-Piece bonus of HIT +30, still making him viable as a DD.

Derla – Damage Dealer – Shadow Faction:

Derla is a Legendary V Hero who belongs to the Shadow Faction. She is a strong Hero with AoE skills who can be placed in both lines of formation. The effectiveness depends on the stars and is fully revealed after level 201 since it begins to pump out HP from enemies with the main ability.

Her Skills, Runes, and Equipment Recommendations:

Her Skill Foul Boneyard heals her for the Damage she deals while Skeleton Armor provides her with DEF. At the same time, her Death Finger stuns the opponent while dealing damage.

Her recommended Runes are Red/Green focusing on Crit and Crit DMG primarily due to her being a great DD, no doubts about it. The recommended equipment for her is Destruction from the Book class. The Destruction set provides him with HIT 25 more chances to deal damage with 2-Piece, important if the enemy is stacking Dodge. With the 3-Piece, more Crit as the set gives CRIT +12%, which is a good amount if your Hero is lacking and finally, with the 4-Piece, increase Haste, HST +12 to cast her damaging skills a lot more. While you're out and about adventuring, you can find some equipment pieces that will not be set pieces; when such is the situation, you can equip a weapon of Book that will provide you with increased DMG.

Magnum Quest Recommended Runes and Sets-Runes

Alden – Tank – Shadow:

We recommend using Courage set for Alden is because it is mainly for the DMG factor. Courage gives you ATK after 2-Piece, while the Fury set gives you Crit boost after 4-Piece. If you're Hero is lacking Crit, this would be a valuable option. Crit bonus is for the Hope that the extra Crit boost whenever you get the 4-Piece will help Alden's AoE DMG out while still having some survivability stats because he is a front-line Hero. The other reason for the Fury set is for the added HIT.

General Recommendations for Best Sets:

Let’s now discuss how to obtain the best sets in the game and what sets can be swapped for different Heroes keeping in mind what we have mentioned in the sections above.

Low Tier Gear:

Early in the game, you don't need to fret much about what gears you get as you'll only be getting low Tier gear, and they are not worth upgrading and refining. You should only refine 5* gear sets as they will go a long way. You should only focus on lifting your heroes to make them stronger and replace your gear with whatever you can find until you get a good 5* gear. Refining non-gear set-pieces essentially being less resource-efficient because you don't get the added benefits from the gear set bonuses.

Places to get gear:

The best place to get gear is a good feature regarding how accessible 5* gear or end-game gear is, which is the Awakened Demons raid. When you unlock quick battle for Lvl 10 of the bosses, there is a chance for the 5* gear that can both be non-set or a set-piece gear. The Raid is such a good feature because you accumulate crystals, a quick battle currency that is free over time.

The other way is through the shop, but it is generally not recommended to buy with Dragon shards or even gold even when it's on discount just because you wouldn't have any issues with progression if you've played your cards right. You need to save those Dragon shards for summons as much as possible and gold for either upgrading gear or increasing squad Lvl when it's over 300 because the prices ramp up pretty fast. So that leaves you with the guild shop. As you progress further into the game, chapter-wise, better star quality gear will become available in rotation.

The shop is the second-best way to acquire equipment because there is nothing else to spend your guild points on other than the shop. The chances to get a 5* gear piece in the shop rotation are meager, especially with a gear set bonus you are looking for. If you don't have any 5* gear and are stuck with 4* gear, then this is the best option for you as it will be a massive boost to the stats. Upgrading to better equipment is always good for your progression. Guild points will rack up eventually. The main thing you want to do here is obtained 5* gear for the stat boost increase.

Gear Sets:

As we mentioned above, there are three types of sets for each Hero. You have three sets for STR, three sets for INT, and three sets for AGI.

Sets For STR Heroes:

First, let's discuss STR-type Heroes.

Courage Set – The first set is Courage, which we have mentioned above in the table. In that table, we have explained what the set bonuses are for each. This set is perfect for Heroes who need to mix up both DMG and survivability. Let’s take Ares as an example whom we have mentioned in detail above. We have explained that you can either go full DD or mix and match for more survivability in the set bonus scenarios.

Guardian Set – The second type of set is Guardian, having the set bonuses mentioned in the tables above. This set is perfect for Heroes that you need to be strictly Tanky, and they are not meant for DMG. Let's take Fare as an example for the Guardian set explanation. He is a good tank, so it figures to use the Guardian Set on him. He is simply a DMG sponge, and his only purpose is to be used for the Fatal Attraction skill, which pulls enemies closer, which is especially good for Heroes like Ares and Gaia. We recommend placing either of those Heroes behind Fare so that when you draw the enemies closer, Ares and Gaia can get to do their work rather than being on the opposite side, which can cause targeting issues.

Fury Set –3rd and final set is Fury Set having the set bonuses explained in the tables in the above sections. You can find this set really good for Tank based Heroes that also can do some damage, as we have shown above, as in the case of Ares. These types of Heroes can benefit from the added hit to land. Some of their skills that make them the reason is why you should use them. The Fury set is not to be confused with the Courage set. It really boils down to how lucky you are in obtaining the set pieces of any kind.

Sets for INT Heroes:

Arcane – Now we also have the INT type Heroes, so the First set is Arcane. This set is perfect for those Heroes who need that mixture of DMG and Survivability. You can use this set on Sur, the detail of which we have written above. Sur is a great Hero for Boss fights as her DMG is pretty good, and this set provides her with the required survivability to stay alive to buff your team.

Destructive – The second set is Destructive, whose set bonuses are mentioned above. This set is excellent due to the added Haste stat. Haste allows your Hero to attack faster, which leads to a faster Ultimate, meaning more DMG or CC, whatever a specific Hero's Ultimate is designed for. This set is generally good on all of your Heroes with high potential Damage and needs to have they're Ultimate become available fast. The Destructive set is excellent for Derla as she lacks the shine without her Ultimate because of her DMG output. The added Crit slash hit is perfect, and the Haste helps her reach that Ultimate faster. Once that happens, you'll see a huge difference.

Saint Prayer –3rd and final set for this section is the Saint Prayer. The set Bonuses are mentioned in the table above. This set isn't to be confused with the Destructive set. This set is excellent on Heroes that need strictly survivability, such as Support Heroes like Ione. The other reason why this set is ideal is because of the Haste stack. Her prime function is defined by her Ultimate the Jungle's Fury skill which Entangle's the enemies rendering them unable to attack or move along with her Vines to the Rescue skill, which allows the Hero to recover HP upon taking fatal damage.

Sets for AGI Heroes:

Soaring Hippogriffs –Next, we will talk about the AGI type Heroes, and the first set we are going to talk about for them is Soaring Hippogriffs. The set bonuses are explained in their tables above. This set is perfect for Heroes that are looking for a mix of DMG and survivability. You can use this set on Fie. Fie has Damaged, but he doesn't go into a fight and carry the team; he is more so in the battle to weaken the enemies as he is used for the Scurry skill, which gives Haste to all your allies. Fie's predicament doesn't mean he can’t dish out Damage; he can.

Ambush Assassin –The2nd set for AGI-based Heroes is Ambush Assassin, whose bonuses are mentioned in the table above. If there was ever a set for Damage Dealers than this, is it. This set is perfect for all your Heroes, which you want to build as a Glass Cannon. You can also use this set on Fie if needs be because Damage is a stat it may lack in the Forest Tower. It all depends on what you intend to use the set in the Hero.

This set is best used on Feng as he is a single target DD monster and a powerhouse. He can primarily be used for Guild Bosses due to their being only one enemy. He dies faster in the campaign due to being squishy and getting focused fire by more than one enemy. His burst damage is one of the reasons you can make him Full-on DD as he can get the Crit rate and Crit DMG, and by this way, the damage boost is perfect for him to reach those high damage numbers.

Swift Hippogriffs –The3rd and Final set for AGI-based Heroes are the Swift Hippogriffs, whose set-piece bonuses are mentioned in the previous sections. This set is perfect for your support Heroes who need that survivability to stay alive to provide that buff/CC abilities. One example of using this set is on Osishe, who can help you so much as a Hero in progression in the game, and she is a must-have Hero due to her CC abilities to lock down the enemies. Her Ultimate ability, the Tide Chorus, puts the enemies to sleep and applies the Vulnerable effect, which can take more Damage, making the fight easier to win. The added Hit chance gives a better chance at landing all her much-needed skills on the enemies, and the dodge helps in survivability.

Conclusion:
