2020-12-11

Skylanders: Ring of Heroes is a new role-playing mobile game back for the first time. You might have played Skylanders: Ring of Heroes; if you haven't, then keep in mind this is a two-year-old game that re-emerged with massive new looks, characters, and features.

The game was about to hit its second anniversary this past February that's when the developers decided to restart the game by redesigning Campaign, the Quality, UI System, the Streamlining, what more is they added IDLE Functionality, redesigned Combat, the Elemental System, etc.

The game also features shard-based summons, allowing you to obtain full Skylanders when you do summons. Skylanders: Ring of Heroes has emerged again and came out of the shadow of the Summoners War.

The game had many Summoners war features before, but now you will be playing a brand-new game with its new and unique features. Today, we will be looking at Is Skylanders: Ring of Heroes worth playing? And is it a game for free-to-play players or not. So, without further ado, let's get started.

Important Tip:

If you had played this game before and spent money on it, then be happy because you will be getting your refund in the form of Gems. However, your progress will be reset, but if you look at it, it's more than you can wish for, and this is the game you might want to start playing again.

Every new and old player will have to start from scratch, and if you have spent money, then you are going to have an advantage over other players, but if you are a free-to-play player, then don't worry, you will be progressing faster too because of all the free stuff you can get in the game. It is hard to restart your progress, but it's better than losing the game forever and this time around, make sure to play wisely.

Skylanders/Characters in Skylander: Ring of Heroes:

Let's start with the Skylanders that you can collect. Skylanders is a pretty popular IP, so you know what you are getting into when it comes to collecting these types of characters. There is nothing to summon for those who only want to summon Waifus and Husbandos, but for those who like new and unique characters, the game has quite a massive collection for you to summon and train your characters.

The game took a turn with the characters, there are many games with Waifus and Husbandos, but in Skylanders: Ring of Heroes, you get to summon characters like Ninjini, Fling Kong, Gill Grunt, etc. The characters have buffs and debuffs, whereas some characters can put you in stealth or cast poison. So, if you like a pace of change in characters and want to play with new and unique characters, then this game is totally worth it.

Combat in Skylanders: Ring of Heroes:

Let's take a look at Combat and what it brings for us after redesigning and re-emerging. Combat is still a stamina-based hero collector at its core. You will have to collect stamina and play each stage.

You can collect a total of 600 stamina, and in every stage, you will have to use at least three stamina. You also have the option of auto-battle, which can only run at a max of 20 times, and each run will consume three stamina.

In Combat, you can bring a maximum of four Skylanders with you to combat. One of your Skylanders can bring the Leadership ability, which adds additional passive stats on your characters. You also get a portal master who can apply buffs throughout Combat.

You also have the option to choose team formation according to your liking and strategy. Your Team Battle Power explains a lot about the next battle; if it's higher than the enemy, you will win, but the formation does matter.

In Combat matches, you will have the universal resource meter combat system, which allows you to use mana to cast your skills. Each skill requires a different amount of stamina, and you can only have a maximum of ten stamina at once. The mana won't be regenerated until you have completely emptied the stamina bar.

The game is turn-based, so you must do quick math and use the skills that can empty your stamina bar. You can also skip your turn and wait for the skills' cooldown to do a big combo. The combat system is pretty much as you see in other games, but the mana system takes off the game to another level of fun.

The one last thing you will see on your characters during combat matches is a shield with a number inside it. The number represents the strength of your characters. Once that number goes down, your character will go into Break Status.

Break Status makes your character weak, and it takes a lot more damage than before and vice versa. This is a nice strategy if you can somehow push your enemies into Break Status. You will have to use low stamina to finish them off. Your characters can come out of Break Status once your mana meter is full.

Campaign:

In Campaign, it's all traditional you will go from Island to Island. You will have to three-star each stage as you move along. The best thing about Campaign is IDLE Functionality. IDLE Functionality allows you to open guardianship with the Island you have defeated.

In there, you can place some of your Skylanders on that Island depending on which difficulty you defeated, and they effectively become IDLE resource generations. You can generate gold, exp for Skylanders, and exp for portal master.

There are no daily resource grinds in the Skylanders: Ring of Heroes, so you don't have to come in and run a gold or exp stage. All of this happens in Guardianship through IDLE Functionality.

This is one of the positive points you can give to this game because there are not many games with these functions, and we all know how boring and tiring grinding is - you spend hours after hours grinding all those stuff. To be honest, it's just a waste of time grinding by yourself.

Challenges:

In Challenges, you will find all of the other game modes, so your main screen will be neat and clean. In there, you will have to clear certain stages to unlock different modes. For example, you will have to clean Adventures 1-3 (Normal) to unlock Awakening Dimension, and you will have to clear Adventures 10-3 (Easy) to unlock Dark Subjugation.

Exploration mode hasn't been released yet, so you can't play that other than that, you can easily play any mode you want. The whole purpose of mentioning Challenges is to talk about Mirage Tower; you must try this. It's quite impressive when it comes to graphics and visuals. You will have about 25 days to climb the tower, and the higher you go, the better the reward will be.

The best part about Mirage Tower is that it provides you Free Gems; all you need to do is obtain a maximum of 150 stars to get a total of 1200 Free Gems. The stars are quite easy to get: you can get a star by clearing a stage, surviving with all Skylanders, etc.

If this isn't enough to push you to play this game, then nothing can. There are very few games when it comes to giving Free Gems or Diamonds. Keep in mind; these 1200 Free Gems are what you will get in 25 Days; imagine gaining Free gems every month. This is why we have mentioned above that the game is quite F2P friendly.

Conclusion:

The overall game is quite fun to play, and a lot of mode favors free-to-play players. You have the option to make wise choices in this brand-new role-playing mobile game and avoid all the mistakes you have made in the previous versions.

The combat system is somehow like the Summoners War, where you should focus on your team strength so you can auto-grind boss stages to get gear drops.

You can summon Skylanders/Character but do not upgrade all of your characters; make sure to take one step at a time. This is a fresh start for Skylanders: Ring of Heroes and for you, and you can benefit from it because you might have the experience it requires to dominate in Skylanders: Ring of Heroes.
