Biography of Sheikh Ali Al-Hudhaifi:
Shaikh Ali bin Abdur Rahman bin Ali bin Ahmed Al Hudhaifi hails from the Hudhaifi tribe, a branch of the Al Awamir clan of Bani Khatha’m. The Awamirs have traditionally lived in northern Areedah, approximately 360 kilometers south of Makkah. The Hudhaifi family has long been recognized as the leaders of the Al Awamirs, a position they have held for centuries. Sheikh Ali Al-Hudhaifi was born in 1366 AH (1947 CE) in the village of Al Qarn Al Mustaqeem, located in the Awamir region, into a religious family. His father served as the Imam and Khateeb for the Saudi army.
Sheikh Al-Hudhaifi's early education began under the guidance of knowledgeable Shuyookh in his village, where he completed the recitation of the Quran under the supervision of Sheikh Mohammad bin Ibrahim Al Hudhaifi Al Amry and memorized parts of it. He also studied and memorized various Islamic texts and poems in Sharee’ah sciences. In 1381 AH, he attended Al Salafiyyah Al Ahliyyah School in Baljurashi to further his studies. He later enrolled at the science institute in Baljurashi, from which he graduated in 1388 AH. He then continued his education at the Sharee’ah College in Riyadh, graduating in 1392 AH.
Upon graduation, Sheikh Al-Hudhaifi worked as a teacher at the science institute in Baljurashi, where he taught Tafseer, Tawheed, Nahu, Sarf (Arabic grammar), and handwriting. He also served as the Imam and Khateeb of the Grand Mosque in Baljurashi. In 1395 AH, he earned a master’s degree from Al Azhar University and later a doctoral degree in Fiqh with a specialization in Sharee’ah politics from the same institution. In 1397 AH, Sheikh Al-Hudhaifi joined the Islamic University, where he taught Tawhid and Fiqh at the Sharee’ah College, as well as courses at the Hadeeth College and Dawah and Usool al-Din College.
In 1399 AH, Sheikh Al-Hudhaifi was appointed Imam and Khateeb of the Quba Mosque. He then became the Imam and Khateeb of the Prophet's Mosque in 1401 AH, and after a brief period at the Haram Mosque, he returned to the Prophet's Mosque in 1402 AH, where he continues to serve. Sheikh Ali Al-Hudhaifi is regarded as one of the leading Qurra' (reciters) in Saudi Arabia and the Islamic world, with numerous recordings broadcast worldwide.
Sheikh Al-Hudhaifi holds several Ijazaat (certificates of proficiency) in Qira'at from prominent Qurra', including:
Sheikh Ahmed Abdul Aziz Al Zayyat: Ijazah in the ten Qira'at.
Sheikh Aamir Al Sayed Uthman: Ijazah in the way of Hafs (partially completed).
Sheikh Abdul Fattah Al Qadhi: Complete recitation of the Quran in the way of Hafs.
Additionally, Sheikh Al-Hudhaifi holds an Ijazah in Hadeeth from Sheikh Hammad Al Ansari. He conducts a regular study circle (Halaqa) at the Prophet's Mosque, where he teaches Hadeeth and Fiqh. Several books written in his own handwriting are also available.
