Islam Religion of War or Peace?
It is interesting to study the big title of this book, namely is it true that Islam is a religion of peace and not a religion of war?
Isn't it true that in reality we find a lot of discussions about sowing along the verses of the Al-Quran, As-Sunnah and also in Sirah Nabawiyah studies?
Verses About Jihad
The Al-Quran is studded with verses related to war, and there is even a letter called The Spoils of War, which is the 8th chapter of Al-Anfal. But that does not mean that the contents of the Koran are only war. Another name for Surah At-Taubah is Bara'ah, which means severance of relations.
Then scattered about, we find lots of verses that talk about war. Among them:
Verily, those who believe, those who emigrate and strive in the way of Allah, they hope for Allah's mercy, and Allah is Forgiving, Most Merciful. (QS. Al-Baqarah: 218)
