Waktu Shalat Oleh Ahmad Sarwat Description
This Android application is an explanation of the purpose of prayer times by Ahmad Sarwat, Lc., MA. In PDF format.
Prayer Times
Pray on time
Fardhu prayers are only valid and can be done at times that have been set by Allah SWT. If the prayer is done outside the time that has been set on purpose, without a syar'i excuse, then the law is invalid.
All of that with exceptions, namely if there is a certain age that is indeed acceptable according to sharia. Like doing prayer with jama' at other prayer times. Or pray for someone who has forgotten or fell asleep, so when he wakes up and knows that a prayer has been missed, he is obliged to do it even though it is out of time.
As for praying outside of its time on purpose and outside the provisions that are justified by the Shari'a, then that prayer becomes invalid.
In terms of the obligation to perform prayers on time, Allah SWT has said in the Al-Quran:
Verily, prayer is a fardhu whose time is determined for those who believe. (QS. An-Nisa: 103)
