Ihram - Ahmad Sarwat, Lc., MA. Description
This Android application is an Explanation of the Purpose of Ihram by Ahmad Sarwat, Lc., MA. In PDF format.
Ihram
The word ihram comes from the word al-haram which means prohibition or something that is forbidden. The word ihram is the mashdar form of fi'il madhi and its mudhari': ahrama - yuhrimu.
The meaning of the word ihram is:
Entering an area in which the prohibition applies.
People who do ihram are called muhrim. This term is different from the term for women who are forbidden to marry, namely mahram, and not muhrim. Unfortunately, many people mispronounce and get carried away with speech errors.
The meaning of berihram in terms of fiqh is:
Intending to enter into the area where the various prohibitions in Hajj and Umrah apply.
Entering into the area of the prohibition here does not mean doing the prohibition, but the meaning is entering an area where these prohibitions begin to be imposed on a person, such as having sex with a husband and wife, killing, cutting one's hair, wearing perfume.
