About the preacher of the world, Imam Ibn al-Jawzi
He is Jamal al-Din Abu al-Faraj Abd al-Rahman bin Ali bin Muhammad, and his lineage goes back to our master Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, may God be pleased with him.
He was born in the year 510 AH in Baghdad, Iraq.
He was known as “Ibn al-Jawzi” because there was a walnut tree in his house, and it was the only tree in the town.
Ibn al-Jawzi grew up in a rich family engaged in the copper trade, and this helped him devote himself to seeking knowledge.
She was a student at the hands of a number of the great scholars of his time, such as Judge Abu Bakr Al-Ansari.
He was known for asceticism and piety, and for avoiding places of mixing with people for fear of wasting time.
He established a school in Darb Dinar, built a large library in it, and endowed his books there. He also taught in a number of schools.
The governor Ibn Yunus al-Hanbali appointed him to the position of the ministry, and after Ibn al-Qassab assumed the position of governor, he pursued everyone who had a relationship with Ibn Yunus al-Hanbali, so Ibn al-Jawzi was exiled to the city of Wasit.
After five years, Ibn al-Jawzi returned from exile to the preaching councils in Baghdad, in the presence of the caliph.
He was distinguished by his abundant literary production and the large number of his works, which amounted to three hundred works and authors.
Ibn al-Jawzi died in the city of Baghdad in 579 AH.
