Islamic laws are teachings that are built on clear and solid arguments and foundations. The formation of Islamic law is not solely the work of human reason, but in it a synergy is built between the will of heaven and the knowledge of human reason. Where these two things are part of the guidance or guidance that God gives to humans as provisions in living their lives in the world.

In language, the proposition of syar'iy consists of two words, namely proposition and syar'iy. Etymologically, the proposition comes from the Arabic language which means a clue to something to aim for (al-mursyid ila al-mathlub).
Meanwhile, the addition of the word syar'iy which means something that is Islamic in nature, is to differentiate it from other arguments that are not categorized as syar'iy such as logical arguments, mathematical arguments, scientific arguments, and other arguments.
