Not To Defend Bid'ah
One of the impressions that is often built and pinned on heretical hasanah adherents is that they defend bid'ah, revive heresy and victims who have fallen into the mire of bid'ah.
With this kind of impression, besides succeeding in killing the character of its adherents it also negatively or at least obscures positive values in the term heresy hasanah. Many then feel allergic to this term. It is as if the term ijtihad by the scholars is a term that must be removed.
For this reason, in order to clear the negative impression inherent in the term bid'ah hasanah from the understanding of some people, we need to know how the attitude of the scholars who support heresy hasanah towards bid'ah in general? Do they defend blindly or are some of these people the only ones who fail to understand the concept of bid'ah itself?
1. Imam Shafi'i
Perhaps the one who explicitly divided bid'ah scientifically into two for the first time was Imam As Syafi'i Rahimahullah. And one of the two passages does mention bid'ah hasanah or mamduhah.
