Entering 488 H, Baghdad as a city of Islamic civilization and a destination for students is still being flooded with knowledge travelers. The same was done by an eighteen year old youth from the Jilan area. At the beginning of that year he came to gain knowledge from Baghdad's wells which never ran dry.
Even though the political atmosphere of the Abbasids was unstable, studying was still an activity that was never quiet. Conditions like that did not make the young Jilan discouraged. His enthusiasm is even more burning. He began his scientific odyssey from teacher to teacher. He started first by studying the Koran.
1. Born
Eighteen years earlier, the young man was a cute baby who had just been born to a mother named Fatima, the daughter of a prominent religious figure in Jilan. Meanwhile, his father's name was Abdullah Abu Salih, if his family line was pulled up, he was a descendant of Hasan ibn 'Ali, as written by Ibn Hajar, Ibnul 'Imad, and As Sya'rani.
2. Demand knowledge
In Baghdad this young man named Abdul Qadir studied with various masyayikhs. After studying the Qur'an, he studied Hanbali jurisprudence with his great teachers. Then he listened to the hadith. Study literature. And after all of that felt ripe, he retired, secluded, practiced the Order under the guidance of a great scholar named Hammad ibn Muslim Ad Dabbas.
3. Teachers
He studied with many of the masyayikhs of Baghdad. In the science of Hambali jurisprudence, he studied with Abu Said Al Mubarak ibn 'Ali Al Mukhrami. This Abu Said Madrasah will later be inherited by Shaykh Abdul Qadir. And then popular with the name Madrasa Qadiriyah.
He also studied Hanbali jurisprudence with Abul Khattab Al Kalwadzani, one of Al Qadhi Abu Ya'la's students.
He also studied with a great Baghdad scholar named Abul Wafa Ibn 'Aqil, the author of Al Funun who was quite knowledgeable about muktazilah thoughts. It is even said that he once got lost in the jungle of muktazilah thoughts and found it difficult to get out. Although in the end he managed to save himself.
