Islam and Non-Islam
A. Origin of All Divine Religions: Islam
Basically all divine religions brought by 124 thousand prophets and apostles from Prophet Adam to Prophet Muhammad SAW are Islamic religions, including Judaism brought by Prophet Musa and Christianity brought by Prophet Isa alahimassalam. Both are also Islamic religions, because they are all official messengers of Allah SWT.
This is not the view of Liberal Islam, but the view of Al-Quran Al-Karim himself.
Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam. (QS. Ali Imran: 19)
All religions brought by the prophets are Islam. Then there are some of his followers who are obedient but some are also disobedient. Those who disobey are what we call non-Muslims.
B. Who Is Called Not Muslim?
In fact, if we look deeper into it, there are at least three groups that can be called non-Islamic, viz
a. The Former People Who Denied
It was stated that some of the followers of the religion of the prophets were kufr, disbelievers, disobedient, immoral and reckless. Pharaoh, Namrudz, People of 'Add, Thamud, People of Noah, People of Lut, and others. All of these are then referred to as non-Muslims, aka infidels.
b. The Denied People of the Prophet Muhammad SAW
The same thing also applies to human beings who lived during the prophethood of Muhammad SAW. If they deny the prophethood of Muhammad SAW, then they are not Muslims or infidels either.
Examples that are easy to name include Abu Lahab, Abu Jahal and their comrades in arms.
c. The Remnant of the Former Ummah Who Did Not Recognize the Prophethood of Muhammad SAW
The third is the remains of the former ummah, namely those who claim to be followers of the former prophet. They lived after the arrival of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, but they did not want to acknowledge his prophethood and did not want to accept the message he brought.
They are not Muslims either. For example, adherents of Judaism and Christianity today.
C. Forms of Disbelief
One form of disbelief is associating partners with Allah SWT. In the Qur'an it is explicitly stated that those who worship Prophet Isa and claim to have three gods (trinity) are disbelievers.
